The Ten Biggest Emmy Snubs of 2009
added by newsBotChicago – The 61st Annual Emmy Award Nominations were an interesting melting pot of smart, brave, new choices and old-fashioned, predictable, stale selections. It was fantastic to see a few first-time nominees from our own “Dream Emmys” piece including Jim Parsons for “The Big Bang Theory,” Jack McBrayer for “30 Rock,” Kristen Wiig for “Saturday Night Live,” Aaron Paul for “Breaking Bad,” Hope Davis for “In Treatment,” Toni Collette in “United States of Tara,” and Cherry Jones for “24”. Those are great choices that hint at an organization willing to think outside of the box when it comes to handing out awards.
Now, that doesn’t mean some people weren’t totally screwed. For every great choice this year, there was one that could politely be called a head-scratcher. Let’s hope he survives longer than most Middle Eastern characters that show up on the show. Speaking of Middle Eastern characters, what’s up with Nadia Yassir (below), guys?

Female Empowerment Continues in 24 Season 8
added by newsBotI have to admit, 24’s current Season 7 is not exactly the pinnacle of excellence, but it’s still the damn best action-adventure show on TV right now. Yes, even after this week’s Wtf moment with Tony Almeida. Is he or isn’t he, guys? Decide already! Anyways, now that we know the show’s 8th season (set to commence production next month!) will be set in New York and that CTU will be back, EW adds that FBI agent Renee Walker (played by Annie Wersching) will survive Season 7 and return for a pivotal role in Season 8 along with the show’s female prez, played by Cherry Jones. Says EW’s Michael Ausiello: Not only is she coming back next season, but exec producer Howard Gordon tells me that “some part of her past will be necessary in the context of the next crisis.” Gordon also confirms that Cherry Jones
