‘Prisoners’ Finds a Buyer
added by newsBotAlcon Entertainment has purchased the spec script Prisoners, a kidnapping thriller set in a small Massachusetts town. After shelling out north of a million dollars for the rights, the company plans to fast track the movie for an October 2010 release through Warner Bros.
The script tells the story of a carpenter who takes matters into his own hands after his daughter and her friend are kidnapped. He captures the man he believes is responsible while police track down potential suspects.
THR is reporting Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale are no longer attached in the $30-40 million budget. They would have played the carpenter protagonist and a police detective respectively. Bryan Singer was also set up to direct at one point, but will no longer be involved. Alcon is actively searching for new talent.
I had a chance to read this, which is considered one of the hottest scripts in the industry right now.

"I will adjust to what is needed. But only if I have quite an obsession for the role," Bale told People in 2005. Bale revealed he relied on a diet of apples, coffee and cigarettes for his role as insomniac,

Bale & Wahlberg Take No “Prisoners”
added by newsBotSeveral months ago we told you about The Prisoners (the “The” is new), a thriller with Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale attached to star, while X-Men director Bryan Singer was eyeing the directors chair. Well, the film has now been put on the fast-track for a fall 2010 release.
There’s just one problem - Wahlberg, Bale and Singer are no longer attached to the film.
So what does this mean?
With Wahlberg and Bale out of the picture the field is now wide open for casting. The irony being that Wahlberg and Bale are now starring together in David O. Russell’s The Fighter. Maybe the duo didn’t want to re-team (maybe Wahlberg walked into Bale’s eyeline while they were shooting?) or this new fast-tracking didn’t align with their respective schedules (might Bale have Batman 3 on the way?).
Producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson said:
