Blu-ray Review: Requiem for a Dream
added by newsBotIn my opinion Requiem for a Dream is one of those films you like, but aren't going to return to on a consistent basis primarily because doing so would lead you on your own spiral of depression. As a result, trying to decide whether you should buy it or not is a tough call and seeing how I didn't own it before receiving the Blu-ray for review doesn't make my recommendation -- one way or the other -- any easier. What I can say is after what I believe to be my third time seeing the movie, it holds up just as well as it did the first time around and this Blu-ray only makes it better. Requiem serves as a brutal look at addiction. Whether its drugs, television, sugar, or whatever vice you can think of, this film has addiction nailed to the wall and brings it to life using music, »

Fan Encounter: Channing Tatum’s Thank You from a Hometown Hero
added by newsBotAs I previously posted, Channing Tatum and the cast and crew of ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra’ honored local service men and women with an early Hometown Hero Screening in San Diego, California during their world-wide press tour before the film was officially released in theaters.
At the event, Senior Community Representative Bill Cegelka presented local Hometown Hero Jose Velazquez and his son, Justin with a personal letter honoring Jose’s service in the Us Navy.

Gender-bending actors: Who makes the cut?
added by newsBotIn honor of Liev Schreiber's turn in Taking Woodstock, The Huffington Post has its readers scoring various actors' and actresses' believability in roles of the opposite sex. As I'm typing this, Patrick Swayze, who gives my favorite drag performance in To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar, is averaging 7.4 out of 10, which ranks him sixth among the group of 24. The most successful stars: Cillian Murphy in 2005's Breakfast on Pluto (9.2), followed by Hilary Swank in Boys Don't Cry (8.7), Linda Hunt in The Year of Living Dangerously, (8.6), Jaye Davidson in The Crying Game (8.6), and Cate Blanchett in I'm Not There (7.7). Schreiber's averaging a 2.5, placing him behind Eddie Murphy in Norbit (4.0), John Travolta in Hairspray (3.8), Shawn and Marlon Wayans in White Chicks (3.5), and Martin Lawrence in Big Momma's House (2.7). I have not seen Taking Woodstock yet, but I'm guessing if Schreiber scored that low, he was not supposed to pass as a woman. »
