White Lightnin’ is a sorta biographic flick about Jesco "the Dancing Outlaw" White, an Appalachian step dancer with a “weak mind” and a propensity to keep it that way. On a metaphoric level, it’s also a film about what tends to happen when you treat mental illness with a combination of brutality and drugs. And literal religion.
White Lightnin’ is a story about a man trying to escape himself and who will go to insane lengths to get there. Done documentary style, we first meet Jesco White (Jessie) when he’s just six years old and is already a connoisseur of high-octane gasoline and lighter fluid. While sonny boy huffs and puffs, his father, D-Ray, amuses all at the neighborly get-togethers by doing a little fancy mountain step-dancing.

Over the Top: ‘White Lightnin’’
added by newsBotFrom the Over the Top Fest website Written by Vice Magazine co-founders, Shane Smith and Eddy Moretti, White Lightnin’ tells the story of Jesco White, ‘The Dancing Outlaw’. Jesco (Edward Hogg) is the last of the Appalachian Mountain dancers. Ever since he was a child who was hooked on huffing gas and lighter fluid, his daddy D Ray (Prison Break’s Muse Watson) tried to keep his boy on the right hand of the Lord. But it didn’t always take. When D Ray is murdered, Jesco is in danger of falling into the darkness. Thankfully he has two calming influences in his life. The traditional dances that his father had taught him as a boy, and his loving wife, Priscilla (Carrie Fisher). They can only soothe his demons for so long though before Jesco spirals out of control and leaves in his wake, one of the darkest rampages you’ll see all year.

First Howl Delayed; Recession at Fault; Condition Dead Moving Forward
added by newsBotMany moons ago (November, 2007, to be exact), we first told you about an upcoming "satirical werewolf film" called Howl that was gearing up for production.
The title referred to the surname of the lead character, John Howl, a mixed-up cop/werewolf who's obsessed with the Eighties and hot on the trail of a murderer in Hollywood. The script was written by Clint Morris, and the talent in talks for various roles included Eric Stoltz, Stephen Tobolowsky, Kam Heskin, Powers Boothe, and Muse Watson.
Now, several months later, we heard back from Morris, who pointed us in the direction of his blog, Caffeinated Clint on Moviehole.net. It seems the project, now renamed First Howl (the artwork on your right is from our earlier story), didn't quite make its planned February 14th, 2009, start date due to current economic conditions. As Clint explains it, "The company in charge of the pic, and
