Ryan Rodney Reynolds 23 October 1976, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Ryan is the youngest of four children. His father, Jim, was a Vancouver food wholesaler. His mother, Tammy, was a retail-store saleswoman. Between 1991-93, Ryan appeared in "Hillside" (1990) (aka "Fifteen"), a Nickleodeon series taped in Florida with many other Canadian actors. After the series ended, he returned to Vancouver where he played in a series of forgettable TV movies. He did small roles in Glenn Close's Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story (1995) (TV) and CBS's update of In Cold Blood (1996) (TV). However, his run of luck had led him to decide to quit acting. One night, he ran into fellow Vancouver actor and native Chris William Martin. Martin found Ryan rather despondent and told him to pack everything: they were going to head to Los Angeles, California. The two stayed in a cheap LA motel. On the first night of their stay, Reynold's jeep was rolled downhill and stripped. For the next four months, Ryan drove it without doors. In 1997, he landed the role of Berg in "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place" (1998). Initially, the show was reviled by critics and seemed desperate for any type of ratings success. However, it was renewed for a second season but with a provision for a makeover by former "Roseanne" (1988) writer Kevin Abbott. The show became a minor success and has led to additional film roles for Ryan, most notably in the last-ever MGM film, a remake of The Amityville Horror (2005). Ryan was engaged to Canadian singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette, another Nickelodeon veteran, between 2004-2006.

Nathan Fillion supports Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern
added by newsBotAmong superhero fans, a favourite to play Green Lantern has been Nathan Fillion, who was apparently ruled out as too old for the role.
Fellow Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, who earned his superhero stripes as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, recently landed the part of the DC Comics hero in the Warner Bros movie. The film will tell of hotshot pilot Hal Jordan who finds a ring with incredible powers when a dying alien crashes on earth.
Fillion, 38, best known as Caleb in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Captain Malcolm Reynolds in Firefly and its film spin-off Serenity, did make an entry into the superhero genre when he voiced Steve Trevor in this year's Wonder Woman animated movie.
He was also the superhuman Captain Hammer (pictured) in Joss Whedon's online musical Dr Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog.
He was so popular a suggestion for Green Lantern that he was featured in a

added by newsBot(Guest Movie Review by Dedpool) So it’s finally here. DC Animated’s and Warner Premiere’s newest direct to video release, “Green Lantern: First Flight” has finally touched down and oh what a ride it was. Timed almost perfectly with DC Comic’s summer long Green Lantern centric, universe wide crossover “Blackest Night” and the revelation that Ryan Reynolds will be playing Silver Age Gl, Hal Jordan in the upcoming live-action release, “First Flight” sets the stage for all those unfamiliar with the emerald ring slinger, and gives something long overdue to fans of the character. Without giving too much away, the movie goes like this: Hal Jordan, a cocky but fun loving test pilot is whisked away to the crash site of dying alien Abin Sur. Sur is a member of the intergalactic police force known as “The Green Lantern Corps.” After bequeathing his ring to Jordan (the

Nathan Fillion is a Fan of Reynolds as Green Lantern
added by newsBotCanadian Love is in the air this week as fan-favorite Nathan Fillion expresses his love and support for the casting of Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan in the upcoming Green Lantern film.
Fillion, who became an actor to look out for (with his own dedicated cult following) after Firefly, is currently doing well with his new great show, Castle. But on the movie front, he’d been the subject of speculation as one of the many hopeful candidates for the Green Lantern movie. At least, up until recently when Justin Timberlake, Bradley Cooper and Ryan Reynolds were reported as the top choices and as we know, it was finally announced that Ryan Reynolds snagged the part.
So, how did Fillion react to the news of fellow Canadian Reynolds getting the part? He was actually very happy about it.
In speaking with MTV, he had this to say on the subject:
“The fact is,
