Composer Nathan Barr bites into another season of True Blood
added by newsBotHBO’s award-winning drama series, True Blood, returns for a highly anticipated second season on June 14th, 2009. According to cast members, this coming season will prove to be even more creatively explosive than the last. Nathan Barr, composer of season one, is also back for another musical journey in season 2.
Official Press Release:
Executive Producer and show creator, Alan Ball, is extremely impressed with Barr’s score for the show. Ball recently expressed that “Nate’s score for True Blood continually impresses and surprise me, and one of the favorite parts of my job is driving out to his studio to hear his score cues, as I know I’m always in for a treat. His music, with its distinct and completely acoustic flavor, perfectly captures the mix of suspense, terror, romance, and regional authenticity that the show calls for. I know I can always count on him to take

SXSW Review: 'The Slammin' Salmon'
added by newsBotI sort of like Broken Lizard as underdogs. I remember walking into the first screening of "Supertroopers" at Sundance, and no one in that theater knew what it was or who they were. The film absolutely killed as a result, blindsiding everyone there. By the time it hit theaters, enough advance buzz existed that there was a bit of a "prove it" attitude from fanboys, and I don't think they gave the film a fair shake. And then with "Club Dread" and "Beerfest," there's been a feeling that people were almost lying in wait for the films, determined to prove how...

'Slammin' Salmon' Trailer Released
added by newsBotThe Broken Lizard guys are back and early reviews of their upcoming feature, Slammin' Salmon, are mixed.
Not the actual movie, mind you, but the trailer.
The buzz from internet pundits such as Cinematical and JoBlo seem lukewarm, thanks to Broken Lizard's post-Super Trooper flops, Club Dread and Beerfest. We'll see if Slammin' Salmon can recapture their early magic but don't expect alcohol-fueled miracles.
See the trailer and judge for yourself.

The Slammin' Salmon Red Band Trailer! -- The newest from Broken Lizard in all its Red-Band glory
added by newsBotThere is only one film in cinematic history that has Michael Clarke Duncan punching a swordfish in the face and that film is "The Slammin' Salmon". After what feels like an eternity since their last greatness, "Beerfest", Broken Lizard has returned with more R-rated comedy and yet as funny as all those guys are, Duncan may walk away with this movie. I already knew the guy was funny ("Talladega Nights") but he looks even better here. Of course, all the Bl guys look good too, especially Jay Chandrasekhar as the insane waiter, Nuts ("How is everybody 'feline' this evening?"). If you didn't see all the new photos from the film we posted yesterday along with the synopsis, click here. "The Slammin' Salmon" will debut at this year's Slamdance Film Festival. ||COLLIDER_FLASH||5236||500||407||COLLIDER_FLASH||

Broken Lizard trailer
added by newsBotI'm not sure what to think about this next Broken Lizard film Slammin' Salmon. Their first film, Supertroopers, was quality but Club Dread was absolutely awful and Beerfest was just Ok (and the less said about Dukes Of Hazzard, the better). Could this be a return to form? Collider has posted a red-band trailer for Salmon and it looks like it's got a few laughs. But can this hold up for an entire movie? The film stars Michael Clark Duncan as a former boxer and current restaurant owner who...

Behold the Slammin' Salmon
added by newsBotWondering what those wacky lads of Broken Lizard are up to? Wonder no more. Kevin Heffernan, Jay Chandrasekhar, and the rest of the comedy team behind Super Troopers and Beerfest are hard at work putting the finishing touches on their latest ensemble effort, The Slammin' Salmon. The film stars Michael Clarke Duncan as a former heavyweight boxing champ-turned-celebrity restaurateur who concocts a ridiculous scheme to earn enough cash to pay off his debts to Yakuza mobsters. Which comes as a relief to those of us who had assumed the plot centered around a promiscuous fish.
No release date has been announced yet for The Slammin' Salmon as the Lizard men are still looking for a distributor for the film. Let's hope they find one soon. Until then, our good pals at Collider have some pics for ya.

Slammin’ Salmon Pictures and Synopsis
added by newsBotBroken Lizard, the comedy team who created Super Troopers and Beerfest, has started to promote their next movie called The Slammin’ Salmon. Here is the official plot synopsis and a few pictures from the movie thanks to the good people at Collider.
Cleon “Slammin” Salmon (Michael Clarke Duncan), the former Heavyweight Champion of the World, is a tough, crazy bull of a man and the celebrity owner of a high end Miami, seafood restaurant, The Slammin’ Salmon. He generally rules by fear, but on this night he raises his leadership style to a new level. On this particular night, the Champ reveals that he owes money to the Japanese Yakuza and needs to pay up asap. So he institutes a contest to “inspire” his wait staff to sell more food than they ever have: The night’s top selling waiter gets $10,000, the lowest selling waiter gets his head punched in by the Champ.

DVD Review: Broken Lizard’s ‘Puddle Cruser’
added by newsBotIf you haven’t seen Super Troopers, Club Dread or Beerfest, you’re probably not familiar with the comedy troupe known as Broken Lizard. Since their college days, Jay Chandrasekhar (Director, Dukes of Hazzard), Kevin Heffernan, Stephen Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske have been making people laugh and sometimes, making a movie or two. I first became familiar with their work when a colleague told me to check out Super Troopers.
I scoffed. It sounded stupid. Then, late one night on cable, Super Troopers was on, so I gave it a chance. I was right. It was stupid. It was also one of the funniest little films I’d seen in a very long time. After drinking the Kool Aid and becoming a member of the Broken Lizard fan club, I scoured the internet to find a copy of their first film, Puddle Cruiser. On some crappy website where

Top 7 Drinking (Beer/Wine/Alcohol) Movies
added by newsBotWe start the Top 7. You finish the Top 10.
In honor of The Hangover (Due out June 6) many of you will get this weekend, The Scorecard Review presents the Top 7 Drinking (Beer/Wine/Alcohol) Movies.
As always, there is certain criteria to get on this list:
1. Alcohol must play a prominent role.
2. The movie makes you want to reach for a drink.
Based on this, we’ve got some cuts to make before we start. Leaving Las Vegas you’re out. The destructive, slow death of alcoholic Ben (Nic Cage) is a sad, well-done film. Plus, adding Elisabeth Shue as hooker is brilliant casting. But this movie is about pain, and while everyone should realize drinking has a dark side, let’s not talk about that here, Ok?
Also, Cocktail we’re leaving you off as well. This Tom Cruise movie is supposed to be a drama. But after my 15th viewing,

Broken Lizard Freeloading Off The Counting Crows
added by newsBotThe Broken Lizard guys have spent many years making films and making a little money off them, even if none of them have been giant hits that made them all millionaires. Fresh off a visit to Sundance's edgier cousin, Slamdance, where they spoke to our Steve West, the team behind Super Troopers and Beerfest is gearing up for another project. Variety is reporting that a large cast has signed on to Freeloaders, a comedy about people who live in a rock star's mansion as, well, freeloaders. The movie will star Jane Seymour, Dave Foley, Clifton Collins Jr., Josh Lawson, Kevin Sussman, Zoe Boyle, Nat Faxon and Warren Hutchinson, as well as Counting Crows lead singer Adam Duritz, who is also producing. No, I have no idea how the unholy union of the Counting Crows and Broken Lizard came about, but I kind of love it. Dan Rosen, who seems to
