Why I Don't Like the 'Adjusted for Inflation' Box-Office Argument
added by newsBotClint Eastwood in Gran Torino
Photo: Warner Bros. On Friday I posted the Friday box-office estimates and inside of it I said how Gran Torino will become Clint Eastwood's highest grossing film of all-time, ahead of In the Line of Fire. Of course, the very first comment that comes in comes from Allan saying, "Adjusting for inflation, Every Which Way but Loose will remain number one." Now, to be fair, Allan was not the only one presenting this little inflation case to me with regards to Eastwood. In his Box-Office Wrap-Up our very own Laremy Legel said, "As Brad has already noted, [Gran Torino] is on the way to being the biggest Eastwood flick of all time. British Actor Matthew Goode Joins Amy Adams In New Rom-Com Flick
added by newsBotEnglish actor Matthew Goode, star of the drama "Brideshead Revisited," has signed on to join Amy Adams in a Spyglass romantic comedy flick.
"Leap Year" tells the story of a young woman (Adams) who travels to Dublin to propose to her boyfriend on Leap Day, February 29. When weather forces her to turn around, she asks the help of a cynical Irish innkeeper (Goode) to join her on a cross-country trip.
Anand Tucker will direct the script penned by Harry Elfont and Deb Kaplan. Production kicks off in March in Ireland, as per Variety.
Goode had appeared as Mandy Moore's romantic interest in 2004's "Chasing Liberty" and as a bank robbery gang leader in "The Lookout." He will next be seen as retired superhero Ozymandias in the Zack Snyder film "Watchmen."

The "killer asteroid" craze with Armageddon and Deep Impact facing off in the summer of '98; the dueling "president's daughter" films Chasing Liberty and First Daughter in 2004; the recent "organ repo" phase with last year's Repo! The Genetic Opera, and the upcoming Reposession Mambo (due later this year) - it's often times a race to see who can get to the finish line first.
Sometimes, "imitation" is purely a business-related affair, driven by corporate shills with no motivation other than getting in on the action to make a grab at a pie they think that they're missing out on. Bitter because they didn't get there first, often times these said "imitators" resort to blatant "copying", perhaps to play "catch up", or perhaps because they have no original ideas of their own. While the film industry is a prime
