While Shia Labeouf has spent the past few years becoming a bona fide movie star, appearing in such flicks as Transformers, Eagle Eye and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, he’s also been loosely attached to star in an adaptation of the graphic novel Y: The Last Man. But while talking with Wizard Magazine, Labeouf says he’s “not willing to make that movie currently, and may be too old to play the role by the time it does come around”. The actor’s loss of interest may stem from the role being too similar with his Transformers character Sam Witwicky: "You take Sam and you put a monkey on his shoulder," said Labeouf of Yorick's sidekick Ampersand. In a day of superhero overload, Brian K Vaughn's Y: The Last Man is the perfect comic book series for a Hollywood big screen (or even small screen) adaptation. If you haven't yet read the series, pick up the paperback (or the new hardcover) of the first volume, as I very highly recommend it. Disturbia director DJ Caruso has been trying to get the project off the ground for a few years now, and Caruso's frequent star Shia Labeouf was interested in starring in a film adaptation. A script was in development, the first in a reported trilogy of adaptations -- a potential franchise. But as time has passed, so has Shia's interest. Myself and others who have read Vertigo’s Brian Vaughan written future set story Y: The Last Man could swallow it when reports some time back said that Transformers star Shia Labeouf would be playing the lead, Yorick. Seeing him trample around the world as the only man with his pet monkey Ampersand was something to look forward to, until Labeouf squashed it down in July’s issue of Wizard Magazine.
Shia's not Yorick anymore?
Well it seems that the friend of the Autobots in this reporter’s opinion does not know how to tell the difference between two completely different characters (between Sam and Yorick).

Does he expect to be in his late thirties the next time he has some space in his schedule?
