Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios are hoping to put the film into production early next year, which Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead, Drag Me To Hell) will once again direct, based on the characters by Stan Lee (Silver Surfer, Iron Man) and starring Kirsten Dunst (All Good Things) and Tobey Maguire (The Crusaders, Spider-Man 3). The first “Spider-Man 4″ script was originally by James Vanderbilt, and then rewritten by David Lindsay-Abaire before Ross was just announced. Mandate Prepares Miserable Excuse
added by newsBotMandate PIctures (Juno, Drag Me To Hell, 30 Days of Night) has picked up the rights to the 2008 novel You Are a Miserable Excuse For a Hero by Onion scribe Bob Powers.Powers' "Just Make a Choice" system is a riff on the Choose Your Own Adventure model (cool British kids preferred Fighting Fantasy, which worked on the same principle). The book's protagonist - ie you - enjoys a successful blind date, following which his potential new squeeze is kidnapped. The book then presents him/you with ongoing opportunities to either attempt to save the day, or to run and hide, fearing that a daring rescue looks like a bit too much of a commitment this early in the relationship. The project was shopped to Mandate by screenwriter Dv DeVincentis, whose credits include High Fidelity and the awesome Grosse Point Blank. He was attracted to the project because ""I wanted to

OnTheFlix Reviews Sam Raimi’s ‘Drag Me To Hell’ Movie
added by newsBotSam Raimi did a great job with this movie. It was truly frightening. It had me on the edge of my seat the entire time, and that Mrs. Ganush was just truly, truly gross. In a brief synopsis of this film. Christine Brown played by the gorgeous Alison Lohman, is working hard to get a promotion at the bank she works at. One day, an old Gypsy type lady named Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) walks in,and asks Christine if she can please have a third extension on her mortgage because she's been sick. It ends up being Christine's call, after she talks to her manager. Feeling the pressure of wanting to get that promotion, she turns down Mrs. Ganush because it would lose the bank, money. Mrs. Ganush doesn't like that, so she eventually puts a curse of the Lamia on Christine after attacking her. Christine eventually goes to

Dunst back as Mj?
added by newsBotWhile he was out promoting Drag Me To Hell, even Sam Raimi couldn't say for sure if Kirsten Dunst would be back in Spider-man 4. But if the New York Post is to be believed, Dunst will return for the fourth installment. They spoke to Spider-man producer Todd Black who said Dunst is "definitely on board." Now before we get too excited (or disappointed), that quote isn't from the mouth of Black but from the Post (they provided no quotes from Black himself on this matter). During...

Up Not Lost In Ruins On A Hangover
added by newsBotDisney/Pixar’s Up still reigns supreme in its second weekend at the box office as it barely leaps over the Todd Phillips directed comedy, The Hangover. Hurdling over it by barely over a million, the families came back in droves for a second round of the heart warming tale taking in 44 million. The Hangover caught the attention of many being able to wrangle up a slot in second with 43 million, bringing us some good raunchy comedy back into theaters.
Hi...are you Carl Fredricksen?
Land of the Lost, the Will Ferrell starring vehicle based off of a 1970’s series of the same name, did not live up to the expectations box office wise, reaching into third with 19 million. Going on with its weekend with mainly bad word of mouth did not help its case in reaching out for more viewers. With its random and strange layout, this film was

'Up' and 'The Hangover' Prime to Battle for #1 Slot While 'Land of the Lost' Can't be Found
added by newsBotFriday box-office estimates are in and it doesn't look good for Universal's Land of the Lost and I expect word-of-mouth won't help it over the weekend as trailers that promised a G-rated family affair don't exactly allude to what is offered in the rather crass PG-13 comedy. However, happier times are being had at Warner Bros. where The Hangover opened in the #1 slot Friday to the tune of $16.5 million followed by Disney/Pixar's carryover Up at $13.5 million making for a race to the finish. In all likelihood Up will close the gap and I would assume takeover The Hangover for a second weekend win thanks to matinee showings feeding its weekend tally. However, both films should end around $40-45 million making Warner Bros., Disney and Pixar all happy campers. Land of the Lost currently sits in third with a $7.2 million take and what will probably end up as a $20 million weekend.

Parental Warning: Land Of The Lost Is Not Kid-Friendly
added by newsBotRight off the bat I’ll say I know I’ll take some heat for this article because I haven’t seen Land of the Lost myself, and no doubt lots of young adult non-parents will be rolling their eyes over the point of this article. However being a parent myself, I thought this was most definitely worth bringing up.
Just as “regular” people use movie reviews to decide whether to see a movie or not, I’ve been looking at reviews about this film - and based on them I’m writing up this warning for parents who may be planning on taking their young children to see this.
You may remember Land of the Lost as a cheesy, innocuous Saturday morning TV show from your youth - so when the film was announced, I (and you may have) figured it would run along the same lines. Will Ferrell is in it?
