Watch Out!: Bad Boys (1983)
added by newsBotIn the wake of news that Columbia is shopping for a third Bad Boys movie, I thought we'd take a look at the first one. Not the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence cop movie, but the teen prison movie from the 80's.
I don’t remember which Bad Boys I saw first. I believe the timing was in very close proximity to each other. It’s clear that this version made more of an impression on me, just by the fact that whenever I hear the name Bad Boys, I would think of this film first before Michael Bay’s. Bad Boys is a 1983 film starring Sean Penn, released right after he catapulted into fame with his role as Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. The Weinstein Company's Woes Continue
added by newsBotOut here in Los Angeles it's no secret that The Weinstein Company is in trouble, in fact, nearly everyone I know was watching to see how both The Inglorius Basterds and Halloween II would perform, because a flop could have easily meant the demise of an empire. Click the link above or below to read what Nikki Finke has to say about the matter. »

Dark Days for Dimension Films?
added by newsBotIn the tradition of "let 'em go on a Friday", late yesterday afternoon, Variety broke the news that The Weinstein Co. (Twc) had laid off around ten staffers. Then Nikki Finke of Deadline Hollywood weighed in with a grim outlook for the parent company of Dimension Films.
"I'm told about 10 people were axed this week at The Weinstein Company. Its Hong Kong office is closing. And its UK office will be down to one person." said Finke.
So what does this mean for horror fans?
The Weinstein's released Inglourious Basterds (a success) that was in direct competition with it's own Halloween II (underperformed), and according to Dh, it's splitting revenue on Basterds with Universal, who were "nervous whether The Weinstein Company even had the $30M necessary to adequately release Ib domestically."
Now, rumblings within circles close to Fango who chose to remain anonymous have long pointed to the fact that »
