David Carradine has passed away. When I heard the news, and how it might have possibly happened, I was incredibly, almost weirdly sad. Carradine could be a handful (and his recent appearance at the Aero Theater in Santa Monica after a Bound for Glory screening proves as much). But he could also be a superior actor -- in Martin Scorsese's Boxcar Bertha (co-starring one of his famous partners, Barbara Hershey whom he had a child with, named Free), and then that bloody, drunken cameo in Scorsese's Mean Streets (shot by brother Robert), Walter Hill's The Long Riders (alongside brother's Keith and Robert), Kung Fu, Paul Bartel's Death Race 2000 (I love that movie), Ingmar Bergman's The Serpent's Egg (a great, intense performance), Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill (his speech about Superman was especially memorable and more heartfelt and soulful, moreso than was probably written) and Hal Ashby's wonderful,

The result of a second autopsy involving "Kill Bill" and "Kung Fu" actor David Carradine revealed that he died of auto-erotic asphyxiation.

Initial results of a secondary autopsy performed on David Carradine suggest the late actor died of auto-erotic asphyxiation.
The Kill Bill star, 72, was found dead, hanging in the closet of his Bangkok hotel room on Thursday.
Some local reports suggested he committed suicide, while Thai police believe he died accidentally as he took part in a dangerous sex game involving auto-erotic asphyxiation - where victims achieve heightened sexual pleasure by restricting their air supply.
The actor's family requested officers from America's Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) get involved in the case last week (ends05Jun09), urging U.S. authorities to assist the local police investigation to prove the star had no intention of killing himself.

Eli Roth previously revealed that he wants to both direct movies and star in them, stating that he has already worked alongside such Hollywood stars as Brad Pitt in "Inglourious Basterds." Now, Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that fellow splat-pack member Alexandre Aja has cast Roth in his upcoming 3-D remake of "Piranha." Roth will cameo as the host of a wet t-shirt contest. In addition, one of the Knb FX crew members wrote the following about "Piranha 3-D": "Between us and the physical FX crew, this movie has the potential to out-blood the 400 gallons we went through on Kill Bill. Remember Lake Havasu, the jewel in the Arizona desert, well its red now. We are currently shooting the Lake massacre scene 100 boats, 500 extras, 400 gallons of blood, lots of screaming, lots of bikinis, lots of torn flesh and its all in 3D."
