The Time Traveler’s Wife to become TV series
added by newsBotIt took $19.2m in its opening weekend, making it the 3rd highest at the Us box office, was the most popular in the UK, and it seems things can only get better for The Time Traveler’s Wife which is now set to become a TV series too. The story follows Henry DeTamble (Eric Bana), a librarian born with a genetic disorder which causes him to travel through time at random intervals and Clare Abshire (Rachel McAdams), his long suffering wife. Filled with romance and complications, it’s heart wrenching to watch and we’re sure this new ABC and Warner Bros. version will have us reaching for the tissues once again.
Writing and executive producing the series will be Marta Kaufman, the co-creator of TV’s Friends and Veronica’s Closet. In case you were going to accuse them of jumping on the band wagon, it seems ABC has »

Kung Fu Panda Movie Review
added by newsBotWhen you hear the story about a big, fat panda who is supposed to become a big, fat kung fu fighter, and All That in animation, you would probably think the idea is silly, but Kung Fu Panda is a surprisingly funny and even emotional movie. It tells the story of a panda, named Po who wasn’t believed in, but who tried as hard as possible to succeed and to never disappoint. Po (Jack Black) lives in the Valley of Peace with his father with whom he works in a noodle shop. He’s a huge fan of kung fu and despite trying really hard to master kung fu, he never quite succeeded. Po always looked up to the Furious Five, Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Monkey (Jackie Chan), Mantis (Seth Rogen), Viper (Lucy Liu) and Crane (David Cross), who were the most skilled kung fu fighters in the Valley and »

Monsters Vs. Aliens Sequel Up in Air
added by newsBotDreamWorks Animation is up in the air about a sequel for Monsters Vs. Aliens, according to CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, who told The Hollywood Reporter that domestic audiences took to the animated feature more so than international audiences.
"This is the first movie we've had that's right on the bubble," Katzenberg said.
Katzenberg said executives will make discussions of a possible Monsters Vs. Aliens sequel part of their annual worldwide marketing tour.
"We want to talk to people that are on the ground," he said. "To get in sort of casual headline conversation can be misleading, so we're taking the opportunity to be face to face with people and have in-depth conversations."
Monsters Vs. Aliens has grossed $377 million worldwide at the boxoffice, with $198 million coming domestically. Some territories performed well, while others were "very big misses," Katzenberg said.
"Domestically it has performed at a level that would surely qualify it as a sequel,

Comic Con: IMAX Execs Hoping To Show Tron 2, The Hobbit On Giant Screens
added by newsBotEarlier today we told you here about plans to show Where the Wild Things Are in glorious IMAX format. But during the same special IMAX presentation by the top brass, President of Filmed Entertainment Greg Foster told us what they hope to be showing off big in the coming year. Mind you, this is not a list of done deals, but when IMAX guys say they're hoping for something, they'll probably get it. Foster rattled off a list of some of the most anticipated upcoming films, including Tron 2, Spider-Man 4, Shrek Goes Fourth, Dreamworks Animation's Oobermind, Zack Snyder's Guardians of Ga'hool, and Guillermo del Toro's The Hobbit, which probably got the biggest gasp from the crowd. There were also some obvious choices: the final two Harry Potter movies will almost definitely be on there, and if Kung Fu Panda and Happy Feet did IMAX, you can bet their sequels will.

No 3D for Monsters vs Aliens Blu-ray
added by newsBotI had been preparing questions for Dreamworks and Paramount Home Entertainment pertaining to their plan for handling 3D on the upcoming Monsters vs Aliens Blu-ray Disc and DVD that stars the voices of Seth Rogen, Hugh Laurie, and Kiefer Sutherland. This morning all the questions were addressed with the same blanket answer: we're not ready. In a surprising move, Dreamworks will be releasing Monsters vs Aliens on Blu-ray Disc and DVD without 3D despite approximately 58% of box office ticket sales coming from 3D screenings. The reasons are purely technical. It cannot be done... yet. Speaking to Home Media Magazine, DreamWorks Animation chief Ann Daly explained the reasoning as follows: "The movie itself was developed with the notion of doing the RealD-Dolby experience in theaters, and those specs are not ideal for the anaglyph presentation for home viewing, which still relies on glasses with colored rather than polarized lenses," Daly said.
