Jonah wields Machete?
added by newsBotThere's a certain movie I have seen that I'm not allowed to talk about but I will say this: Jonah Hill is absolutely one of the funniest actors working today. His little 5-minute "Brundan" scene in Night At The Museum 2 was the best part of the whole movie and then if you assume that he's an upcoming movie and you assume that a person you knew saw that movie, that person might say that Jonah Hill was also one of the best parts of that movie (damn embargoes!!!). While Jonah just...

'Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian'
added by newsBotCan a movie just be made for the fun of it? Is it against movie-making morality to allow films with no greater meaning? Is it against the rules to belay blame for leaps in logic or any real attempt to accomplish anything more than guilty pleasure? Is it okay to make a sequel of Night at the Museum?
Absolutely!
I’m a film student. Meticulous professors with doctorates have taken particular pains to train me how to appreciate and analyze Film, which is to be taken as a work of art and a reflection of humankind.
But I struggle to intermingle this supercilious affectation with my honest-to-goodness, red-blooded-American need to be heartily entertained for no good reason. Ben Stiller is the king of supercilious comedy, with Zoolander and Something About Mary among his most lauded feats. Yet he manages, somehow, to involve us in the characters and to care about

Night At The Museum 2 Movie Review
added by newsBotSo here's the joke: The Jonas Brother, Owen Wilson, Amy Adams and Jonah Hill all walk into a room with about 500 other actors of comedy and non-comedy alike bursting with enough creative energy to power a small city and the punch line is...? Night At The Museum 2! And the expression you are now pulling is the same one you will you have when you see this film, the ever present look of expecting the funny, waiting for the funny, anticipating the funny but it never coming. Ex-museum guard Larry (Stiller) is now a successful inventor, but misses his friends among the exhibits at the Museum Of Nat...

It is the third highest opening for the studio, behind The Incredibles and Finding Nemo. Exclusive Interview: Dylan Bank and Morgan Pehme talk about the surreal horrors of Nightmare
added by newsBotWhen it comes to horror movies, I know lots of stuff but I’ve never claimed to be cutting edge. That’s usually because I’m so busy mining the past and revelling in vintage terror trends that I often miss the current product when it first sees the light of the projector beam or small screen. But that’s okay. To paraphrase Charles Foster Kane, they’ve been making horror films for over 100 years and I’ve only been watching for 30.
So forgive the fact that in 2009, I’m only now getting around to raving about a blood spattered modern day surrealist shocker that was lensed in 2005. That film is Nightmare directed by Dylan Bank and co-written by Morgan Pehme and Bank and man alive is it aboslutely insane, sleazy, unnerving, bizarre and boldly berserk. In other words, my kind of horror film. Cerebral yet utterly, proudly trashy. Yum.

Weekend Box Office: How did Drag Me To Hell do?
added by newsBotSam Raimi's much-anticipated and heavily-promoted return to horror opened on Friday (with Thursday night screenings in some locations), and despite the massive ad push (this site included), Drag Me To Hell scared up only $16.6M at the box office, coming in third behind Disney/Pixar's Up, and the Ben Stiller comedy Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian.
Drag Me To Hell just barely edged out Terminator: Salvation, which came in 4th.
Variety says: That was below outside forecasts but in line with studio expectations, according to U distribution chief Nikki Rocco, who asserted that "Drag Me to Hell" should benefit in coming weeks from its positive reviews. "Drag Me," marking director Sam Raimi's return to his horror roots, drew mostly from the under-25 demo and skewed slightly female.
Chicks dig the horror.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian Review - Buckman’s Take
added by newsBotThis wasn’t supposed to happen. A sequel to a mildly amusing family adventure flick isn’t supposed to be funny, entertaining and easily the most delightful film seen this year, yet, despite nearly the same plot from its predecessor and most of the same jokes, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian is a blast. But please, the sequel to 2006’s mammoth hit Night at the Museum (it made over half a billion worldwide, not counting DVD sales), is world class summer fare, not to be confused with anything artsy or deep. Instead, its mayhem keeps its target in mind and presents not only silliness and an upsurd amount of witticisms, but a good dose of historical education to boot.
Getting their adventure on.
Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) is back, yet this time he’s successful. When his needless gadget company is booming, Larry is knee-deep in Blackberry calls and business suits.
