Observe And Report Review
added by newsBot
Prowling around an anonymous shopping mall in an anonymous Us city, Ronnie Barnhardt resembles an American Black Bear.
As pitilessly embodied by Seth Rogen in Jody Hill’s Observe and Report, Ronnie looks harmless from a distance: more fat than muscle, close-cropped hair, ill-fitting blue uniform, leisurely, uneven gait. He looks like a cartoon character—Yogi Bear, maybe. Up close, it’s a different story. He’s big and burly. His eyes narrow when he talks. He quickly explodes into anger, even without provocation, and then, as his emotions subside, he tries to cover up with a phony smile that’s all teeth.
He’s 90% repellant male, 5% charming scoundrel, and 5% dangerous animal.
Ronnie is the type of character that you can sort of believe would patiently wait hours for his dream girl, Brandi (Anna Faris), to show up for their first date. He’s so shallow that he’s attracted to her once beautiful,

Pineapple Express Sequel Update
added by newsBotMTV News caught up with Seth Rogen, who is currently promoting his new comedy "Observe and Report," to discuss whether there have been talks about a "Pineapple Express" sequel. "Of all the movies we've done, that's the only one that I would actually like to do a sequel to," he said. "And we talked about it." James Franco previously revealed that the original idea for the sequel was to combine the characters from "Superbad" with the ones from "Pineapple." It would be split up into two halves with Greg Motolla (Superbad) and David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express) taking on each half. "I could sell them [the characters from 'Superbad'] something, but I think we'd want some action, so you know, somehow the kids get in trouble somehow and we have to get them out of it," said Franco. And regarding the fact that Rogen is in both movies playing two different characters, Franco stated:

Observe and Report Review
added by newsBotAfter the unexpected success of Paul Blart in January, the existence of another mall cop movie just three months later seems like cinematic redundancy. On the surface the stories may even appear the same: a delusional security guard is awkward with women and dreams of a promotion to the real police force while thwarting a mall menace. The similarities quickly end there.
Blart’s humor is broad and safe, while Observe and Report is the darkest of black comedies. The R-rated movie is as bipolar as its protagonist, randomly mixing in bits of edgy hilarity with bouts of intense seriousness, which is a strangely uncomfortable experience for anyone unaware of what they’re getting into.
At the South by Southwest Festival premiere, a curious audience member asked their thoughts on a lame movie like Paul Blart sharing the same premise. Writer/director Jody Hill seemed anxious to answer truthfully, but

Movie Review: “Observe and Report”
added by newsBotSeen on: April 10, 2009
The players: Director: Jody Hill, Writer: Jody Hill, Cast: Seth Rogen, Anna Faris, Michael Pena, Ray Liotta, Jesse Plemons
Facts of interest: Jody Hill also directed "The Foot Fist Way."
The plot: Seth Rogen plays a mall security guard who desperately wants to become a real cop.
Our quick thoughts: Jody Hill’s “Observe and Report” is a crass, violent and a times hilarious comedy. It’s a weird little film starring Seth Rogen in a role quite different from what he’s done so far, and to be honest, I found it both daring and intriguing. Some will adore it, and others will hate it, but I admit I had a great time watching Rogen play an unstable mall cop who will stop at nothing to fulfill his dream.

'Observe and Report' web reviews
added by newsBotSeth Rogen returns to the big screen in Jody Hill's latest comedy "Observe and Report," in which he plays a bad-ass mall security guard who has a thing for Anna Faris and tries to bring down a nasty flasher. Michael Pena, Ray Liotta, Jesse Plemons co-star, and here is what the Web's critics think about the flick:
• Latino Review's Ron Henriques: "You're looking in the wrong place if you're in the mood for more of Rogen's clever social observations and camaraderie amongst equally witty friends. Many of these characters have no redeeming qualities and just about all of them are almost as weird as Ronnie."
• Cinema Blend's Josh Tyler: "It’s a celebration of savagery and madness, the story of a man who’s a hero in his own head."
• Joblo's JimmyO: "For Jody Hill, this latest offering is a stronger feature than 'Foot Fist.' Yet the

Fsr’s Weekly Report Card for 04.10.09
added by newsBotObserve And Report Studio: Warner Bros. Rated: R for for pervasive language, graphic nudity, drug use, sexual content and violence. Starring: Seth Rogen, Anna Faris, Michael Peña, Ray Liotta and Collette Wolfe Directed by: Jody Hill What it’s about: Seth Rogen plays a bipolar mall security guard who is infatuated with the girl at the perfume counter (Anna Faris). While trying to get in her pants, he’s also trying to solve a string of crimes that have been happening at the mall. When a real policeman (Ray Liotta) threatens his fragile world, things go a bit nuts. What I liked: I will admit that I did laugh at some moments in this movie. This film has a very sharp edge that is not going to be right for everyone. In this respect, I did enjoy some of the more outrageous moments. Additionally, the non-stop onslaught of profanity and raunchiness was something that I could respect

Seth Rogen Delivers in Controversial, Hilarious ‘Observe and Report’
added by newsBotRating: 4.0/5.0 Chicago – The hysterically misleading TV spots for Jody Hill’s “Observe and Report” make it out to look like another broad comedy that might even have a cute romance between stars Seth Rogen and Anna Faris. There’s nothing cute or predictable about “Observe and Report”. And that’s precisely why it works.
Those ads are like suckering family viewers into a Kevin Smith movie by advertising that he did a voice in the animated “Doogal” or pitching “Tropic Thunder” to the crowds that really liked that family-friendly Ben Stiller in “Night at the Museum”. Audiences have no idea what they’re in for.
Read Brian Tallerico’s full review of “Observe and Report” in our reviews section. Drug use, extensive frontal nudity, extreme violence, date rape - this is material that’s not for the faint of heart. If you were remotely offended by last year’s Rogen

Box Office Weekend Ahead – Can Hannah Montana stop Fast and Furious?
added by newsBotDisney unspools its next teen-drawing venture in “Hannah Montana: The Movie” into 3,115 venues, certainly pulling in tons of fans of the eagerly followed series. The question? Do they have what it takes to down “Fast and Furious” in its sophomore weekend at play? “Furious” has turned in the biggest gross of the year so far with $70.9 million grossed and a total of over $85 million pocketed thus far. “Montana” is helmed by Peter Chelsom, known for crowd-pleasing films like “The Mighty,” “Serendipity” and “Shall We Dance.” Two other wide openers will be vying for a slice of the weekend’s earnings but should pose no threat to the first two films. The first is the mall cop comedy “Observe and Report” which finds 2,727 locations and stars the ever-popular Seth Rogen as well as Michael Peña and Anna Faris. Jody Hill of “The Foot Fist Way” directs and writers the screenplay. We

Movie Review: Observe and Report (2009)
added by newsBotSeth Rogen as Ronnie Barnhardt in Observe and Report
Photo: Warner Bros. Observe and Report is not as easy a film to review as I initially assumed it would be. It exists almost in an effort to defy itself. Sold as a comedy starring comic regular Seth Rogen it has a few laughs, but considering Rogen's character, Forest Ridge Mall security guard Ronnie Barnhardt, is a bipolar man child with delusions of grandeur, a fetish for firearms and is still living with his alcoholic mother we have a bit more than comedy to consider. Early on these personality traits are played for comedic effect, but as the film plays on we realize they define a very real and unstable individual just aching to crack at any moment. Next comes women bloggers screaming "date rape" all while the character being raped is last seen screaming for more. Add police brutality, slow
