This Week On DVD and Blu-ray: March 31, 2009
added by newsBotDVD Links: DVD News | Release Dates | New Dvds | Reviews | RSS Feed As I am typing this up I am completing my tour of the five most recent James Bond Blu-rays released last week. I have already watched Goldfinger, Moonraker, The World is Not Enough and Quantum of Solace and I am watching Never Say Never Again for the first time with plans of watching Thunderball immediately afterward. I am sure many of you know the story and why I will be watching Thunderball, but for those that don't, stay tuned as it will certainly be part of my Bond Blu-ray Round-Up Part Two. If you missed the first one you can read it here. As for what else is on my plate I just received the new Blu-ray copy of No Country for Old Men as well as Doubt. I am also interested in taking a peek at Cecil B. DeMille's Cleopatra,

DVD Review: Seven Pounds (2008)
added by newsBotAnswer: 2001.s Ali. Question: what was the last Will Smith movie that failed to make at least $100 million?
Until 2008.s Seven Pounds, that is. Although this flick reunited Smith with director Gabriele Muccino, his collaborator on 2006.s hit The Pursuit of Happyness, Pounds failed to find much of an audience. It stalled at $69 million, a rather tepid take for a Smith movie.
In Pounds, Smith plays Ben Thomas, an IRS agent. In the wake of tragedy, Ben tries to reward good in the world, a quest that leads him to intersect with a mix of strangers who require various forms of help.
Yes, that may be the shortest story summary I.ve ever committed to a review. The nature of Pounds means that less is more in this circumstance; if I provide greater detail, I risk spoiling different elements and I also may dumb down the tale too much.
Often when I wrote plot synopses,

Rosario Dawson Looks Easy in 'Complex'
added by newsBotI know it hasn't been the most popular choice, but for about five years now, I've stood by my vote for Rosario Dawson as the big screen Wonder Woman. She's not the lily-white Megan Fox, but she can act, I'm sure she could do the action, and she's got a fairly Amazonian quality, and I mean that as a compliment. Don't know if it could ever happen, but that's where I stand: Vote Rosario for Wonder Woman.
Anyway, Dawson is featured in a smokin' new pictorial in Complex Magazine this month, and role playing is on the menu.
Her one-time Sundance flick, Explicit Ills, is finally out in limited release this weekend. She was also really good in Seven Pounds, disarmingly so, and that film will be on DVD at the end of the month. We got a recent update from her about Sin City 2, so if you're a fan of the Frank Miller,

Rosario Dawson Talks ‘Sin City 2′
added by newsBotTo say that a sequel to the brilliantly fun and visually stunning Sin City is hotly anticipated is an understatement, indeed. But it’s been four years since the first and some of us are getting anxious about whether or not we will actually see another one anytime soon.
Well appears that it is still in the development stages as in an interview, star of the first film Rosario Dawson gave us a little bit (and I’m sorry to say “little” is the correct description) about the progress of Sin City 2:
Q: Jamie King said she’s read the “Sin City 2″ script. Have you?
Rosario Dawson: No, I have not. She’s working with Frank [Miller] to possibly produce something together. I just talked to Frank about it though and said he finished it a couple of months ago so I’m really excited to get it going.

New animated "Wonder Woman" movie reflects America's conflicted feelings toward feminism
added by newsBot"Remarkable, the advanced brainwashing that has been perpetuated on the females of your culture. Raised from birth to believe they're not strong enough to compete with the boys, and then as adults, taught to trade on their very femininity."
— Diana in Wonder Woman, the animated movie
I should tell you upfront that I'm not generally a fan of animated movies — they tend to bore me unless they were a childhood favorite — but my partner Lori likes them, and she occasionally makes me watch them with her (as penance, I suppose, for all the lesbian movies I make her watch).
Last night, we watched the new straight-to-dvd PG-13 animated Wonder Woman movie from Warner Bros., directed by Lauren Montgomery and based on a story by Bruce Timm, William Marston, and Gail Simone (who is currently the head writer of the Wonder Woman series) about the journey of the Amazon princess Diana
