Fast and Furious 5 in 2011, Titled Fast Five
added by newsBotThe $350 million worldwide box office success of Fast & Furious, the fourth film in the ongoing street racing series, along with sequel comments made recently by Vin Diesel all but guaranteed Universal would pursue another installment. Per Variety, Universal is not only moving forward with Fast & Furious 5 but they are firing up the nitrous to get it into theaters in 2011.
The film will be called Fast Five and follow fugitives Dom and Brian as they are pursued by "legendary lawmen." Stars Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are already inked, along with director Justin Lin and producer Neal Moritz. All four worked together on Fast & Furious.
Scribe Chris Morgan (Wanted) is taking his third stab at the series after having penned The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and Fast & Furious. Filming is expected to get underway later this year. »

That was a big jump over the previous "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" and was mostly credited to the return of original series stars Paul Walker and Vin Diesel. Once the film was screened to audiences almost everyone involved knew another adventure was in the works (if the ending didn't tease it enough), but now Universal Pictures is finally putting the pedal to the medal. Diesel, Walker, Lin Reteam for 'Fast Five'
added by newsBotIt's gotten to the point where I look forward to the next Fast/Furious movie -- or at least the announcement -- just to see what they'll call it. Every title since the first one has had something to offer: nonsensical wordplay (2 Fast 2 Furious), a wonderfully goofy subtitle (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift), bizarre and confusing minimalism (Fast & Furious). The current title of the fifth entry (which we speculated about last month, and is now official) into the now-venerable franchise combines at least the first and the third of those: the movie is currently known as Fast Five, which I guess means we have to start referring to this series as Fast and/or Furious.
