Tropic Thunder

It's been four months since Wolverine sliced open the summer, and eleven weeks since Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen began its rise toward the $400 million mark. Now, the fall movie season is upon us, and you can expect the box office -- like the weather -- to cool off as studios roll out their second-string pics in the downtime before the awards race. Last year's Labor Day weekend saw newcomers Babylon A.D., Traitor, and Disaster Movie get soundly beaten by holdover Tropic Thunder. This time around, we've got a similar crop of likely underachievers: The week's widest release, Gamer isn't even screening for critics, while All About Steve is getting soundly drubbed. On top of that, word-of-mouth champs Inglourious Basterds and District 9 will put up a strong fight for slots in the top five. Plot: An odd story about a young business owner who gets word he may finally be able to sell his extract company. Trouble ensues when an uncanny accident sends one of Joel’s (Bateman) employees to the hospital for, uh, losing something important. The aftermath of the incident forces him to re-think his plans, and re-examine the life he thought had been so mind-numbingly drab to begin with.
Who’s It For? Fans of Jason Bateman’s career turn around. This guy may be a one-note sort of actor, but like his young counterpart on Arrested Development Michael Cera, this is one note Mike Judge hopes we don’t mind hearing/seeing yet again.

Robert Downey Jr. could be trading his Iron Man suit with vampire fangs for "The Vampire Chronicles". According to Bloody-Disgusting, the Tony Stark aka Iron Man in "Iron Man" is in "close talks" to star as French nobleman-turned-vampire Lestat de Lioncourt in a big screen return for Anne Rice's popular fiction.
Should the rumor is true, Downey Jr. will be the third actor to take on Lestat, the narrator and main character of the majority of Rice's vampire tale series. Tom Cruise has portrayed Lestat in 1994's "Interview with the Vampire" and Stuart Townsend followed Cruise's footsteps in 2003 with "Queen of the Damned".
Bloody-Disgusting reported that Universal Pictures is looking to revamp the film franchise. Details on how the studio is planning to do the reboot and which Anne Rice novel(s) the film is going to be drawing from are yet to be disclosed.
