Bryan Singer Helming 'Jack'
added by newsBotBryan Singer is getting ready to level a giant.
The X-Men, X2, and Superman Returns director will be directing Jack the Giant Killer, a fantasy adventure from New Line and Legendary Pictures. The story, written by Mark Bomback and Darren Lemke, centers around a kidnapped princess, and a young farmer who leads a dangerous expedition into the giants’ kingdom to rescue her.
Jack the Giant Killer will likely be Singer’s next movie, The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog reports. Since completing the Tom Cruise vehicle Valkyrie, Singer has attached himself to two other projects—a new feature version of Battlestar Galactica at Universal, and a remake of Excalibur at Warner Bros.
He’s also still much in demand by producer Lauren Shuler Donner, who said she would like to see Singer helm another 'X-Men' feature.
Giant Killer, however, is currently on the fast track.

Convention Autograph Fees Reach New Low By Reaching New High
added by newsBotWho wants to have a good old heart-breaking laugh in the middle of an economic recession?
You know Patrick Stewart, star of Star Trek: The Next Generation, X-Men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand and that delightful one-man stage version of A Christmas Carol? Who doesn't? What geek doesn't wake up in the morning to "Tea, earl grey, hot" and think of the Great Bald One?
Well, you better switch to decaf, my good friend, before you read this news: At the upcoming Chiller Theatre convention, one of the larger horror/sci-fi/kitsch festivals on the East Coast, Mr. Patrick Stewart will be commanding $100 per "photo op". That doesn't appear to include an autograph with it. Oh, and and would you mind forking that over in advance, his handlers ask you kindly.
We've reported on this consistently over the years. There's a lot of talent on the convention circuit that make their living at these shows. »

Bryan Singer to Direct Jack The Giant Killer
added by newsBotBryan Singer is a busy guy these days. He’s signing directing agreements left and right. In his latest, this time with New Line, Singer has agreed to direct a new version of “Jack the Giant Killer,” written by “Live Free and Die Hard” writer Mark Bomback (he also wrote the less popular “Deception” starring Jennifer Aniston). The story is said to involve princesses, kidnapping of said princesses, and a war between giants and men. More giants after the jump.
Singer has recently agreed to direct a new film versions of “Battlestar Galactica” and “Excalibur,” making this his third remake of sorts on the horizon. He really seems to like films with a history. More interestingly, he isn’t slated to write any of these films. For a period, he was co-writing many of his scripts including “X-Men,” “X2,” and “Superman Returns.” Beginning with “Valkyrie,” he’s chosen to direct only. »
