Zombieland screenwriters discuss their plans for G.I. Joe sequel
added by newsBotAfter the success that was Zombieland, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were hired to draft some pretty notable projects. One being the Deadpool spin-off/reboot and the other being the sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra. Their involvement being the only reason I have any kind of moderate hope or excitement for this film at all.

Splice Director Vincenzo Natali Digs Potential New Franchise Tunnels
added by newsBotRelativity Media has announced that Vincenzo Natali will direct an adaptation of the internationally best-selling book series Tunnels. Natali, who has received major buzz after the success of his film Splice (Steve loved it) at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, will adapt the first installment of the book series from a script by Simon Sandquist and Joel Bergvall. Written by first-time authors Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams,
“Tunnels tells the story of Will, a 14-year-old boy driven by a fascination of the buried past, who is drawn into a subterranean world after his archaeologist father abruptly goes missing. This hidden civilization, beautiful and unforgiving, is dominated by a sinister, vicious race called the Styx, who have presided over generations of enslaved colonists.”
As long as he’s not a “chosen one” pulled out of his crappy life, I can get on board. The sequel, Deeper, has already been published with the third installment, »

Writers: 'G.I. Joe' Sequel "Faithful" To First Film
added by newsBotWhere oh where to take G.I. Joe? I'm going to stand by the argument I've made since the week after this movie was released: It wasn't a smash hit. It sold a lot of merchandise, but in theaters, it didn't even double its budget, to say nothing of the promotion costs. Perhaps Paramount loves the non-traditional revenue game, and it would need to rely on it to show a profit for Joe.
The sequel has already shaken things up by hiring Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the soon-to-be overworked writers of Zombieland. Or then again, maybe not. "We can say that we will be faithful to the first film," Reese told MTV. "We will not be ignoring events from the first in the second."
Added Wernick, "It will be a sequel. It will be a continuation of G.I. Joe." »
