Spielberg to Join King Under the Dome
added by newsBotAccording to Empire, Steven Spielberg is set to bring Stephen King's new novel Under the Dome to television. King's novels have been adapted for television for ages, but never by someone of the caliber of Spielberg, who's also produced Band Of Brothers.
The article notes the uneven quality among TV adaptations of King's work, and mentions the similarity of the novel's plot to The Simpsons Movie, which Mike C. pointed out to me weeks ago.
King and Spielberg are arguably the biggest names in print and film, respectively, over the last 30 years. I expect lots of people will watch this adaptation, just on the basis of this union.

Steven Spielberg to Produce TV Adaptation of Stephen King’s Under The Dome
added by newsBotStephen King’s latest, Under the Dome, only came out last week but there are already plans to adapt the novel for TV. Stephen King TV adaptations are rarely anything to get excited about these days since most end up being disappointments, but when Steven Spielberg is the man behind the project everything changes. The powerhouse duo are now working with DreamWorks TV in setting up an event series based on the recent bestseller, which will most likely be on cable. You can get all of the details after the jump.
Under the Dome’s story revolves around the drama that unfolds after an invisible force-field suddenly descends on a small vacation town in Maine. If the plot sounds familiar to you already, it’s because you already saw this situation in The Simpsons Movie. Having said that, I feel safe in assuming that King’s take on the “dome »

Spielberg And King Join Forces
added by newsBotStephen King's whopping new novel Under the Dome was only published a week ago, but plans are already afoot to develop it for the small screen. Steven Spielberg will executive produce, along with Stacey Snyder, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey of Dreamworks TV, and King himself. The novel is a reworking of King's never-published "lost" work The Cannibals, in which the small Maine town of Chester's Mill is suddenly, inexplicably cut off by an invisible forcefield that doesn't allow exit or entry. Trapped inside, the society-in-microcosm starts to unravel.Yes, it sounds like The Simpsons Movie, but it's been hailed in some quarters as a return to old-school King after a gradual shift of direction and focus in recent years, and has drawn favourable comparisons to his much earlier end-of-the-world tome The Stand. King adaptations for TV have been a mixed bag. Tobe Hooper's Salem's Lot and the 1990 It, »

TV Bites: Ba La La La La La Bomba
added by newsBot· Put down your yellow markers. The Simpsons has already crowned a winner of its 20th Anniversary Simpsons Character Contest. Peggy Black (pictured right, with Simpsons executive producer Al Jean), a Connecticut hospital operations manager and diehard Simpsons fan, beat out over 25,000 characters with her Ricardo Bomba. Bomba, nicknamed La Bomba, is a smooth-talking South American Casanova who works at the nuclear plant and moonlights as a Springfield singles scenester. Bomba will be introduced in a January 31 episode opposite Chris Martin of Coldplay. Black was thrilled with the honor and completely unfazed by the fact that there was no cash prize... partly because she thought she'd get to take home that giant hand with a donut they had her pose with. Review: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - The Dennis System
added by newsBot(S05E10) A weird thing has been happening this season, where I find myself really appreciating what the writers have been doing with the gang but I'm not laughing nearly as much as I should. This episode was a prime example of that. Dennis is notorious for his way with women, so hearing a full breakdown of the Dennis System should have been a complete riot (a riot with cringing, sure). I smiled at certain parts and quietly enjoyed the scary-elaborate ways of Dennis and the rest of the gang, though ultimately, the laughs fell short. Perhaps things are feeling a little forced this season?
Trust in the douchiness of your characters and the chemistry of your actors, writers! The lines will come.
