Brett Ratner: Attack on comic book fans was 'out of context'
added by newsBotX-men: The Last Stand director Brett Ratner says negative comments he is reported to have made about superhero enthusiasts were quoted out of context.
Ratner, whose X-Men film was a box office hit in 2006 but drew mixed response from critics and hardcore fans, said on his Twitter page that his views were misrepresented.
He said via Twitter: "Comic book fans: I recently did an interview to promote my Shooter Series DVD and I was quoted out of context.
"Just to clarify. I was actually stating that I can appreciate the passion that comic book fans have for these characters... even if it's at my own expense."
It's likely he was referring to an article on Pop Eater, which now seems to have been removed.
In that interview, he had allegedly said: "When you talk about 'people,' you're talking about comic book geeks. I love a person who's passionate about a comic book character. »
