Kiefer Sutherland All Better, Ready to Clock Back Into 24
added by newsBotJack Bauer's on the rebound. Two weeks after production shut down on 24 to allow Kiefer Sutherland to have minor elective surgery, the actor has been given the all-clear to resume his day job. "Kiefer's been cleared to return to work, and we resume production March 1," said Fox spokesman Chris Alexander. Sutherland, 43, had an outpatient procedure Feb. 16 to treat a cyst that had ruptured near his kidney. With cameras rolling again next week, there shouldn't be any interruption in the terrorist-thwarting show's broadcast schedule. The season is due to wrap in May, and—who knows?—maybe Kiefer and crew will finally get cranking on that 24 movie »

Kiefer Sutherland Health Scare Stalls 24 Production
added by newsBotMuch like 24's perpetually lovelorn Jack Bauer, Kiefer Sutherland will have to leave the Valentine's romance for another day. 20th Century Fox Studios has halted production on the hit series after the actor suffered a ruptured cyst earlier in the week, a 24 rep confirms to E! News. Sutherland is scheduled to undergo minor surgery related to the ailment, but is not expected to be out long as 24 is set to resume filming in just a few days. "While Kiefer Sutherland is frustrated to miss even one day of work, he and Fox decided together that it would be best to complete this minor elective procedure now as a precaution as opposed to six weeks from now when production wraps," his rep tells the »

'24' shuts down for Kiefer Sutherland surgery
added by newsBotJack Bauer and "24" have been stopped, temporarily.
The clock will stop on production of the Fox series this week so star Kiefer Sutherland can have surgery on a ruptured cyst near one of his kidneys.
Sutherland's publicist, Evelyn Karamanos, tells the Los Angeles Times that the procedure as "minor elective surgery," but adds that he wanted to take care of it now "as a precaution as opposed to six weeks from now when production wraps. He looks forward to returning to work next week."
The week off shouldn't disrupt the airing of "24" on Fox, according to a statement from producer 20th Century Fox TV. The show airs its eighth episode of season 8 on Monday (Feb. 15).
The cyst ruptured earlier in the week, but production on "24" continued through Friday with scenes not involving Sutherland's character, Jack Bauer.

'24' movie script in the works
added by newsBotJack Bauer could be headed to the big screen. Fox's "24" has taken steps to get the movie treatment, beginning with a script by "State of Play's" Billy Ray, reports Variety. The pitched story places Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) in Europe, where he will presumably save a dignitary or the world while racing against the clock.
So far, there's no indication how the real-time clock countdown would work on the big screen or how long the proposed film would be.
Don't get too excited just yet though. Having "24" playing at a theater near you is still contingent on a number of factors, including whether or not the series is picked up for another season at Fox or even another network. Considering all that goes into production, it's not really practical to do a movie while the series is still running.
"24" is currently in its eighth season, set in New York. »

Breaking news: `24' movie inching closer to reality
added by newsBotJack Bauer may finally hit the big screen. Though Fox has yet to decide whether to pick up a ninth season of 24, an insider confirmed that the film side is in talks with Billy Ray (State of Play) to write a screenplay for the franchise. Word is the scribe came in and pitched his version of the flick. Any movement on a film may hinge upon the show's future with the network; Fox toppers Peter Rice and Kevin Reilly will likely want to see how the show performs over the next few weeks before deciding whether to commit to another »

Favorite villain rises again on '24'
added by newsBotThere's a simple rule on "24": It doesn't matter how seriously wounded somebody seems, if you don't see a corpse, they're probably not dead. And even if you see a corpse, they still may not be dead. So fans of "24" probably won't be even slightly surprised by Fox's Monday (Nov. 2) announcement that Gregory Itzin has signed on for a multiepisode arc returning to the series as former President Charles Logan. Itzin was nominated for an Emmy for his work as Logan, who initially seemed like a spineless puppet, but was later revealed as an orchestrator of a... »

First Trailer for the New Season of 24
added by newsBot
I don’t watch “24″ anymore but I assume if you saw the previous seven seasons then you’ll want to see this new trailer because it feature Kiefer Sutherland in his Emmy-winning performance as Jack Bauer, a man who shouts at things and tortures people from time to time under the ticking-clock scenario that never happens in the real world. Correct me if I’m wrong, but how many seasons have started off with Jack being out of the game but the world needs his help and he’s the only man who can both shout and torture and that’s a lethal combo for terrorists. But fans of the have already heard these kinds of points from detractors and watch the show anyone. In my experience viewers of “24″ fall into one of two categories: People who genuinely find the show thrilling and action-packed; and people who find it laughably terrible. »

Watch: Fox teases Day Eight of '24'
added by newsBotDid you realize that we were fewer than three months from the premiere of Day Eight of Fox's "24"? Compared to the year-and-a-half between seasons six and seven, this hiatus has been a breeze, right? Fox has released the first teaser for the new season, a clip that will play during the World Series game on Wednesday (Oct. 28) night. At 45 seconds, the clip is brief and for people who either attended Comic-Con or got their hands on the teaser footage from the event, much of it is familiar. Actually, for fans of "24" much of it... »

24 Director to Helm Motorcade Starring Ryan Reynolds
added by newsBotDreamworks has tapped 24 co-executive producer Jon Cassar to helm Motorcade, with Ryan Reynolds in talks to star. You might recall hearing about Motorcade previously, as it is a hot action film project which has been fighting its way to the big screen over the last year since appearing on the 2008 Black List (a list of the best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood). Live Free or Die Hard director Len Wiseman was originally set to bring the project to the big screen, but moved on to Atlantis Rising. Most recently, Motorcade was at the top of a short list of potential projects that Tom Cruise was considering for his next film. Cruise eventually chose Wichita instead. Cassar has helmed 59 episodes of the popular Fox action television series 24. From my experience watching the show, it appears that Cassar can competently shoot action, but brings no style or flare to the storytelling. ... »

Do The Right Thing: 20th Anniversary Edition (Universal) Spike Lee’s groundbreaking fable about race relations in an ethnically mixed Brooklyn neighborhood during a sweltering New York summer remains as potent, timely and prescient as it was in 1989. Lee is among the cast, which also includes John Turturro, Danny Aiello, Samuel L. Jackson, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, and Rosie Perez (to name a few), that provide the tableaux-like framework for this stunning work. Criminally ignored by Oscar (it wasn't even nominated for Best Picture, but did garner nods for Supporting Actor Danny Aiello and Lee’s screenplay), it endures as a timeless classic. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Commentary by Lee, Ernest Dickerson, Wynn Thomas, Joie Lee; Documentary; Deleted and extended scenes; Featurettes. Widescreen. Dolby and DTS 5.1 surround.
