10/20/2002
Jack surprises Meg with the announcement that Jimmy stopped by the shop and asked to take her out and he is allowing her to go. Patty takes a liking to a new boy who is also a finalist in the spelling bee competition. She listens in as Roxanne gives Meg some dating tips and takes one to heart, a little too much. Rebecca invites Helen and Jack on a double date with her and her economics-professor husband Leo. Meanwhile J.J. won't take Beth to a mixer, because he can't dance, that is until Meg teaches him. Jack can't stand Rebecca's out spoken boyfriend and wants to end the night early. Meg and Jimmy's first date goes from bad to worse, as she first talks on and on about cars and later accidentally bloodies his nose. Beth tells J.J. she would rather go alone to the mixer. Not being able to reach her parents, Meg accepts an offer from Sam to walk her home, only to be stopped by the police. With the family looking on, Patty loses the spelling bee, only to be outed by Roxanne who knows she blew it on purpose and offers some helpful advice.

Monster Movies
added by newsBotGlenn here from Stale Popcorn here to discuss one of my favourite films from 2003, Patty Jenkins' Monster. Earlier this year when Courtney Hunt's Frozen River was released here in Australia I wrote in my review that It's a shame that Courtney Hunt's Frozen River is so good. It's unfortunate because now I will most likely be incredibly disappointed when this debut director falls between the cracks of the lead performance she helped create. I then went on to cite Boys Don't Cry's Kimberley Pierce (9 years between films) and Monster as examples.
Patty Jenkins has yet to make a second film after her Monster debut and there has never even been any word on her wanting to make another film. That is such a shame since she brought such fascinating sense of place to the Aileen Wuornos film and her twists on the idea of "American Gothic »

added by newsBotMarch may seem like a long ways off, but its closer than you think, and it's when NBC will finally roll out their new dramedy Parenthood which stars Craig T Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia, Lauren Graham, and funnyman Dax Shepherd, just to name a few. Below is an overview of Parenthood as well as some new promotional clips of the show.
"Parenthood" is a one-hour drama inspired by the box-office comedy hit of the same name. This re-imagined and updated NBC Universal Media Studios/Imagine Television production introduces audiences to the very large, very colorful and imperfect Braverman family.

Nicole Richie is living the sitcom life at ABC
added by newsBotNicole Richie may be headed back to your television screen, this time with a script in hand.
The former star of "The Simple Life" is attached to star in a comedy pilot at ABC. She would play a woman sorting out her professional life and a set of difficult relationships with her family, Variety reports.
Richie herself describes the show this way on her own site: "The story revolves around a young, modern and professional woman who must balance her business and family relationships. She must deal with, and navigate the many ideas of what a woman's role is: modern vs. traditional."
She conceived the idea for the show and will receive a producer credit on the pilot. Daisy Gardner, who's worked on "Californication" and "South Park," is writing the script, and Warren Bell ("Ellen," "According to Jim") and Jamie Tarses ("My Boys") will executive produce.
