Glenister explains 'Demons' accent choice
added by newsBotPhilip Glenister has revealed why he opted for an American accent to play vampire hunter Rupert Galvin in Demons. Speaking at the press launch for the ITV1 show, the Ashes To Ashes star said: "[Rupert] was written as a Texan originally and I thought b****cks to that - I'm not playing a Texan. They said I could play him as English, but I wanted to have the challenge of playing an American."

BBC America will launch "Ashes To Ashes" next month ... and they have high hopes for the series. The British version of "Life On Mars," which took its name from the David Bowie track that was playing at the beginning of the first episode, saw Sam Tyler (John Simm) transported back in time to the 1970s following a car accident. During his stint in the disco decade, Tyler (who was named after the character in "Doctor Who") ended up working for Detective Chief Inspector Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister) in Manchester.
