V Review, "There is No Normal Anymore" (Episode 1.2)
added by newsBotI was really looking forward to the new V series. In my teens, I was a fan of the original two miniseries and even the failed regular series. While my fondness for the franchise may stem from a lack of teenage discernment (especially when it came to sci-fi) and the rosy tint of nostalgia, Battlestar Galactica showed that even the lamest and cheesiest of shows could be reimagined by brilliant minds into something spectacular. Sadly, those minds were not at work on the new V series.... »

Dollhouse Axed
added by newsBotBuffy the Vampire Slayer is very sacred to Horror Yearbook and so is its creator Joss Whedon. So we are sad for him that Fox has decided not to renew his TV show Dollhouse. The good news for Dollhouse fans is that Fox will air the rest of the episodes beginning in December. Something they did not do with Firefly when they canceled the show before it had a chance to finish its ongoing story. Hopefully Whedon has learned his lesson and will give up on the major networks. With the way the Scy-Fy channel handled its successful Battlestar Galactica show, it is odd that Whedon hasn't decided to develop a series for them. He should really consider it. Next up for the writer is his horror film The Cabin in the Woods slated for a 2011 release. Meanwhile his fantasy/thriller Goners sits in development hell. »

Fox Boards Up Joss Whedon's Dollhouse
added by newsBotJoss Whedon's Dollhouse has struggled during its second week in the ill-fated Friday time slot at Fox. A pair of Battlestar Galactica cameos did little to lift ratings and a month long hiatus during November signaled impending doom.
Just two weeks into the hiatus, Fox has officially confirmed the second season of Dollhouse will be its last. No more Eliza Dushku as Echo parading around in skimpy outfits or Tahmoh Penikett as Paul Ballard fantasizing about her.
Staying true to comments made when the show went on hiatus, Fox confirms all 13 episodes will air to give Whedon the opportunity to end the show "in a significant way" per a Fox statement. Dollhouse is slated to return to Fox on December 4 and wrap up its run with Summer Glau joining the cast.
Meanwhile over at ABC, the Kelsey Grammer comedy Hank has been shown the door following a wave of dismal ratings and poor reviews. »
