Sony Pictures Entertainment recently released this new tv spot from the upcoming thriller “Angels & Demons” by director Ron Howard (The Da Vinci Code, Cinderella Man) and starring Tom Hanks (Toy Story 3, Catch Me If You Can, Cast Away), Ayelet Zurer, Ewan McGregor and David Pasquesi. “Angels & Demons” will be in theaters everywhere on May 15, 2009. Sony has just announced the trailer for “Angels & Demons” will be released tomorrow. While some may wonder why Sony made another movie featuring Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon after the terrible reviews for “The Da Vinci Code”, I think the $750 million dollars the film made at the worldwide box office probably had something to do with it. The fact is, the books are beyond popular and if I were the studio, I’d do the exact same thing. When I recently interviewed director Ron Howard, he told me this film takes more liberties with the story than “The Da Vinci Code” did. Let’s all cross our fingers. Anyway, while we wait till tomorrow’s trailer, I’ve been given a video featurette on the Illuminati and it’s below, along with the Superbowl commercial (in case you missed it). If you haven’t read the book, the Illuminati are the villains.

I like Tom Hanks. I like Ron Howard and Ewan McGregor. I also like mystery thrillers. So you'd think I'd be a little more excited about Angels & Demons. But I'm not. And this new trailer for the film is evidence of why. There were some pretty glaring problems with The Da Vinci Code but because of the phenomenon that surrounded the book, it still did pretty big business.
