Syfy Picks Up Season Order of Being Human
added by newsBotWhen Syfy was recently asked via Twitter why they were not considering picking up Joss Whedon's Dollhouse from Fox, the response was along the lines of "we are already working on a solid slate of new original programming."
Per The Hollywood Reporter, one of those new shows designed to fit into Syfy's new broader appealing image alongside Warehouse 13 is a U.S. version of the hit BBC show Being Human. A full 13 episode order has been placed.
Being Human revolves around a twenty-something werewolf, vampire and ghost living as roommates and learning from each other how to survive in a human world.
Six episodes of Being Human were produced for the BBC and became an instant hit. A second season of eight episodes has already been ordered. The original six can be caught in reruns on BBC America. »

TV Recap: ‘Dollhouse: Belonging’
added by newsBotWell, cut me open and splay my innards. This episode was awesome. Written by Joss Whedon’s little brother Jed and his wife Maurissa Tancharoen, this episode Topher develops morals and Sierra kills a client. Also, this episode was directed by Jonathan Frakes (of Star Trek The Next Generation) making it all around awesome.
The last time I recapped Dollhouse, I was pretty harsh saying the show has to give me something worth saving it for. Now I can say that for episodes like this one, its worth saving this show for more of this kind of stuff.
We open on Sierra displaying some of her art on the beach, when Dr. Nolan Kinnard (Vincent Ventresca) comes up to her and asks her out. Flash forward to a gallery showing of Sierra/Priya’s work. Priya wants to leave with Victor who has been imbued with the consciousness of an Italian Art Dealer. »

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan Blu-ray Review
added by newsBotBattlestar Galactica: The Plan, directed by William Adama himself Edward James Olmos, offers fans of the series one last chance to say goodbye and the show's creative team a first (and last?) opportunity to tie together several dangling loose ends. It is mandatory viewing as part of the show's legacy and arc but not the best the show has to offer. Newcomers to Ron Moore's Battlestar Galactica universe should stay far, far away until after viewing the complete series.
The Plan speaks directly to the introduction text "and they have a plan" in reference to the first season of Battlestar Galatica. As it turns out the actual "plan" is quite simple: the complete extermination of all humans on the colonies via a carefully orchestrated nuclear attack which is shown more fully with the destruction of multiple colonies than in the miniseries. The "plan" failed with the survival of a »

Dichen Lachman enjoys being a doll
added by newsBotI have to say that I didn’t think I could love Dollhouse more. But Friday’s episode left me speechless. “Belonging” was easily the most emotionally compelling episode of Dollhouse so far. And a big reason was its featured doll, Dichen Lachman’s Sierra.
Sierra’s back-story is one I’ve been anxious to learn and Joss Whedon certainly did the enigmatic character justice. He also gave Lachman a chance to show us her acting talent — which is substantial.
The La Times talked to Lachman about her role on Dollhouse. Here are some highlights.
On the Sierra-centric episode:
[The episode] was such a dream come true and was such a challenge. I've never had to do things like that before. It was more than I could've asked for as an actor to have so many different things to achieve in one episode. But I'd like to see her get even stronger and even more empowered. »

Fox Pulls 'Til Death, Brothers, and Dollhouse; Are They Cancelled?
added by newsBotThe Fox network has been having one of their most successful fall seasons in its history. The problem spot on their current schedule is Friday nights, which offers sitcoms Brothers and 'Til Death and Joss Whedon's Dollhouse.
Not surprisingly, the programmers have decided to pull the low-rated series from the schedule for November sweeps. They're being replaced by repeats of House and Bones which, sad to say, will no doubt perform much better.
While one of the pulled series isn't really leaving and the other is already slated to return in December, this certainly doesn't help their chances for the future. In truth though, the shows' ratings have been killing them long before Fox made this schedule change.
Dollhouse, which stars Eliza Dushku, Harry Lennix, Fran Kranz, Tahmoh Penikett, Enver Gjokaj, Dichen Lachman, and Olivia Williams, is the most high-profile among »

Dollhouse 2.04 "Belonging" Recap
added by newsBotOh. My. God.
Dollhouse was phenomenal last night. Words cannot describe the mind rush I got while viewing the show and I just want to say to all the naysayers: If you still feel that Dollhouse is not going anywhere story wise, then there is something seriously wrong with you in the department of storytelling.
Sierra’s backstory answered a lot of questions, posed more questions in the process, and almost clearly laid part of the foundation for “Epitaph One”.
The show starts with a disillusioned vision of a bloody Topher repeating the phrase “I was just trying to help her…” a couple of times.
One-Year Prior
Then we flashback to Sierra in her pre-Dollhouse days, where we knew her as Priya, working at a novelty stand taking pictures and selling her art. A guy walks up to the stand and we recognize him, as the guy who Sierra went to confront during Dr. »

'Dollhouse' Episode 2.04: 'Belonging'
added by newsBotEpisode Title: "Belonging"
Written By: Maurissa Tanchareon & Jed Whedon
The Story: The lens is tightened upon Sierra (Dichen Lachman) as viewers learn about her tragic past. Even worse, it dawns on Topher (Fran Kranz) and other Dollhouse officials that Sierra never came to the Dollhouse willingly — but that discovery comes with wildly unpredictable results for Sierra, Topher and more. Meanwhile, Boyd Langton (Harry Lennix) begins to realize that something has changed about Echo (Eliza Dushku).
Cognitive Dissonance: It's not the least bit bizarre that the season's best episode seems to have nothing, or almost nothing in common with Echo herself. "Belonging," which was directed by longtime "Star Trek" actor Jonathan Frakes, focused squarely on Sierra and Topher, with periphery roles for Boyd, Victor, Adelle and Echo. Other than a few choice lines of dialogue, this episode didn't do much to push the show's overall mythology, yet still I think »

Victims and Villains: Belonging on "Dollhouse"
added by newsBotI've expressed frustration with Fox's Dollhouse in the past; the series seemed always out of touch with its own potential, focusing on engagements of the week or fitting up Eliza Dushku in outrageous ensembles rather than delving into the heart of darkness within the Dollhouse itself. With the notable exception of the unaired post-apocalyptic bookend "Epitaph One," the series hasn't come close to fulfilling its promise over the past seventeen episodes or so. Until this past episode, "Belonging," that is. The evocative and bleak installment, beautifully scripted by Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen and flawlessly directed by Jonathan Frakes, showed us the Dollhouse that might have been: a series filled with ethical dilemmas, morally compromised characters, and tough decisions. In an episode, it posits that the evil performed by the Dollhouse's staffers isn't being done willingly; in fact, they could be victims as much as the poor Actives they »

Review: Dollhouse - Belonging
added by newsBot(S02E04) It's somewhat ironic that upon news that Dollhouse is going on something of a hiatus and will likely not be back next year that it delivers one of the best episodes of its run. Co-written by Joss' brother Jed (and it wouldn't surprise me if he wrote the music to the episode as well) and Maurissa Tancharoen (both of Doctor Horrible fame), we got the backstory of Sierra and received a major view of how dark the underbelly of the Dollhouse really is.
In another surprise, they redid the graphics for the opening credits and they're better. Does anybody else make up lyrics while listening to the theme or is it just me? If so, what are your lyrics? Mine begins with "This is the Dollhouse. We're in the Dollhouse. This is the Dollhouse song."
