Gary Unmarried: Executive Producers Leave, Good Sign for Season Two?
added by newsBotPart of CBS' Wednesday night sitcom experiment, Gary Unmarried remains firmly "on the bubble" for renewal. The show hasn't exactly been a stellar performer but it's still done pretty well, especially considering its competition.
Gary Unmarried stars comedian Jay Mohr as a newly-divorced dad who's readjusting to the single life. Others in the cast include Paula Marshall, Jaime King, Ed Begley Jr., Ryan Malgarini, Kathryn Newton, and Al Madrigal.
While CBS execs are thinking about whether or not to give the sitcom a second season, there's a big change going on behind the scenes. Creator/executive producer Ed Yeager and executive producer Ric Swartzlander have left the show due to creative differences with the network.
If Gary is renewed, it's expected that co-executive producer Ira Ungerleider and consulting producer Rob Des Hotel will be moved up to showrunners.
The change in staff may be good news for the sitcom. If

As a result of CBS' small sitcom glut, Criminal Minds' two-hour season-ender has been pushed back an hour to May 20, starting at 9 pm (following the season finales of Old Christine and Gary Unmarried).
The CSI: NY season finale, originally scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, will now air ...

2009 Upfronts: CBS
added by newsBotIn New York this morning, CBS released its schedule to advertisers. CBS had less work to do with its Fall 2009 schedule. And, comfortable atop the ratings, the Eye didn’t mess around with what wasn’t broken.
The big news was that the network has picked up Medium, which was cancelled by NBC just yesterday. Produced by sister company CBC Television Studios, it was a simple decision for the broadcast network to pick up the supernatural series that stars Patricia Arquette.
As expected, and as is logical, Medium will be paired with the thematically-similar Ghost Whisperer on Friday nights.
Other than that, CBS’s fall schedule is largely business as usual, anchored by sitcoms and procedurals.
The only new comedy, Accidentally on Purpose brings Jenna Elfman back to your television as a movie critic who gets pregnant. Accidentally, of course. It will air in the Monday comedy block between How I Met Your Mother

CBS Renews ‘Cold Case,’ Picks Up ‘Medium,’ Cancels ‘Without a Trace’
added by newsBotChicago – In a relatively shocking announcement as a part of fall schedule upfronts this week, CBS actually pulled the trigger on “Without a Trace,” a show that had reportedly gotten too expensive for the network. There were rumors that they may do the same with “Cold Case,” but that show will return with on-the-bubble shows “The New Adventures of Old Christine” and “Rules of Engagement” also being miraculously renewed and “Medium” being saved.
This Fall CBS adds the popular drama series Medium, starring Patricia Arquette, Fridays (9:00-10:00 Pm, Et/Pt), forming a hauntingly compatible two-hour block with Ghost Whisperer at 8:00 Pm.
