'Goosebumps' Being Adapted For the Big Screen
added by newsBotI love children's horror films, especially when they end up being s good as Monster House, which is why I have hopes for the first feature film adaptation of Goosebumps, the popular children's book series that spawned more than 50 books. This evening it was announced that Columbia Pictures is planning their first live-action features based on the books, which you can read about inside. Writing duo Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander are in negotiations to write the live-action big-screen adaptation of the children's horror series "Goosebumps" for Columbia Pictures. Neal Moritz and his Sony-based Original Film shingle is producing as is Scholastic Entertainment's Deborah Forte. While straight-to-video versions of the R.L. Stine book series have been made, the project will mark the first feature adaptation of the series and could become a franchise for Columbia, which acquired the rights in May.

R.L. Stine's Goosebumps Books Headed to the Big Screen
added by newsBotSony Pictures picked up the rights to Scholastic's Goosebumps series of children's horror books written by R.L. Stine and has hired two writers to adapt them into a feature film. I knew this was coming, considering these books are huge with kids and have sold nearly as many copies as Harry Potter. I actually remember reading a lot of them when I was younger, with the embossed Goosebumps logo being one of the most prominent memories - you'll know exactly what I mean if you've ever read them. Experienced screenwriter duo Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander, of films like Ed Wood, Man on the Moon, Agent Cody Banks, and 1408 previously, have been hired to write the live-action adaptation for Sony. The Goosebumps series of books, with 62 in total, were written by R.L. Stine and first published between 1992 and 1997. Stine admits that a lot of the stories are ...

10 Years Too Late? A "Goosebumps" Movie
added by newsBotIf R.L. Stine was dead, I'd imagine there'd be some sort of "rolling in his grave" going on. And not in the zombie-rising-from-the-dead sort of way that he'd obviously approved of. But R.L. Stine is not dead. He's very much alive - and yet, the man who wrote Every Single Goosebumps book - is not writing the movie. Seems borderline criminal - especially since he's alive - but I'll move past that. Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander have lined up to write the film and I can't help but wonder if they'll take an existing Goosebumps story and expand upon it (because let's be honest the damned things take 15 minutes to read despite being about 70 pages long). I was a reader of Goosebumps, it was fun pulp in between books of actual substance - and I can say I'd be more than just a little curious to see the movie
