Universal Pictures have released three new character posters for Michael Mann's upcoming drama Public Enemies, starring Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Marion Cotillard. I get the feeling that this is one of those summer movies that continues to fly below the cloud of the Star Treks and Transformers 2's of the world, but that will ultimately hit big. It has the star power, the Michael Mann pedigree -- at least, that is assuming that we're still giving the man a pass for Miami Vice, which we are -- and based on the latest trailer, it has some of that old timey Hollywood action (gunfire). Check out the three new character posters below, courtesy of IMPAwards, featuring Depp, Cotillard and Bale. Public Enemies hits theaters on July 1, 2009.

Earlier this week, we finally got a chance to see some new promotional material for this summer’s hit gangster film, Public Enemies. Those items came in the form of three new character-centric posters that emphasized the stars of the film: Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Marion Cotillard.
Now, we have a pair of new clips that Trailer Addict exclusively debuted today for the Michael-Mann directed film. Check them out and see what you think:

 


Unfortunately, they don’t really reveal too much new or different than what we’ve seen from the full Public Enemies trailer and they seem to have chosen the cheesier dialogue to show off in these clips.
I don’t know what to expect of this film. I find myself not overly excited to see it from the videos I’ve seen so far. The leads and supporting cast are incredible and the story is a given to be great,

From the original Miami Vice TV series through films like Thief, Heat and Collateral, director/writer/producer Michael Mann often explores the darker side of the street and highlights the lives and evil deeds of criminals. In his movies, the crooks are often just as symapthetic as the cops who try to catch them and the line between good and evil and right and wrong is, at best, blurred. Another film from the director that promises to explore the same territory is his upcoming John Dillinger biopic Public Enemies, starring Johnny Depp as Dillinger.
