J.J. Abrams to Produce 'Mission: Impossible 4'
added by newsBotWhile nothing is official yet on the development of "Mission: Impossible 4", it is likely that filmmaker J.J. Abrams takes a part on the project. In an article printed on TV Guide, the director of "Mission: Impossible 3" confirmed that he has been asked by Tom Cruise to produce the fourth installment.
Expressing his feeling on the invitation, the 42-year-old stated as quoted by the publication, "I am incredibly honored that Tom has invited me back as a producer on Mission Impossible 4." Though he didn't go further by unraveling other details, the "Star Trek" director teased, "Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing." Cruise, Abrams Working on 'Mission: Impossible 4'
added by newsBotWith J.J. Abrams as hot a commodity as he could possibly be thanks to Star Trek, talk of a fourth Mission: Impossible movie suddenly makes a lot more sense. Tom Cruise has wanted to take another run at Ethan Hunt for a while, but with his box office production slumping, another Mission was at best improbable.
But Abrams' M:i 3 was the best of the trilogy, and had Tom Cruise not been a lunatic on the Today show the previous summer, more people would have definitely seen it. Cruise is still trying to rebuild from the summer of 2005.
“Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing,” the predictably cautious Abrams teased during an interview with TV Guide (via Spoiler TV).

It's More 'Mission: Impossible' for Cruise and Abrams
added by newsBotBack in March, Tom Cruise revealed that a script for Mission: Impossible 4 was being written. Meanwhile, director J.J. Abrams tells TV Guide (via SpoilerTV) that he will be producing the fourth 'Mission: Impossible' film.
"I am incredibly honored that Tom [Cruise] has invited me back as a producer on 'Mission Impossible 4,'" said Abrams. "Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing."
Even though Abrams directed the third installment, he has yet to reveal whether he plans on helming the fourth film.
The first film earned $457.7 million worldwide with a budget of $80 million, and the second took in $546.3 million with a $125 million budget. Finally, at a cost of $150 million, Mission Impossible 3 earned $397.8 million worldwide.
Profitable, wouldn't you say?
