Is Stan Lee creating the world's first-ever gay superhero?
added by newsBotHave you heard the news? Comics legend Stan Lee is "to create world's first gay superhero"!
News is out that Lee is creating a character named Thom Creed, which is the same as another character I remember reading about, the protagonist of Perry Moore's novel Hero. Maybe The Telegraph's web browser doesn't have access to Google, or they might have discovered that Lee and Moore were working together bring Hero to Showtime.
Maybe that headline just needs to be cleaned up a bit. We'll help the Telegraph out after the break.
This news is very exciting because there has never, ever been a gay superhero before. Well, there was Captain Metropolis and Hooded Justice in Alan Moore's groundbreaking comic Watchmen.
Watchmen's Captain Metropolis and Hooded Justice, with friends
Hooded Justice and Captain Metropolis, however, were minor supporting characters however while Thom Creed is the hero of Hero,

Is ABC Pilot More 'Dr. Horrible' Or 'Heroes'?
added by newsBotABC has its sights set on a comedy pilot from a former "Will & Grace" executive producer that has some wondering what the idea will be reminiscent of. The pilot for "No Heroics" features a bunch of superheroes who hang out in a bar, but aren't necessarily known for having amazing powers. It almost sounds a little bit like a cross between "Heroes" and Joss Whedon's Web phenomenon "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog," but actually, it's based on a British series of the same name. The creator of that show, Drew Pearce, is working with Jeff Greenstein to develop the single-camera pilot. "No Heroics" debuted last September as ITV2's first original sitcom. It has aired six episodes so far, and has already received some critical acclaim through a nomination at the British Comedy Awards. ...

'No Heroics' emigrates to Us TV
added by newsBotGreat, another British comics invasion, only this time it's on television.
ABC, jazzed from its success transplanting Life On Mars, has okayed a single-camera comedy based on a British series called No Heroics about superheroes with limited powers hanging out in a bar. Jeff Greenstein (Will & Grace) wrote the pilot along with original show creator Drew Pearce. Heidi Macdonald reports:
The UK version is out on DVD for all you all-region peeps, and thanks to Mr. Pearce, we got to sample the show*, which, like many Britcoms, puts its hapless cast into worse and worse social situations where not all their powers can save them. The UK show was quite funny, and featured a zillion in-jokes for anyone who actually reads comics, as well as a dark view of the social pecking order among the long underwear set. Hopefully a Stateside version can retain both elements.
It's an ABC Studios production.
