Horton Director Signs on for Hex
added by newsBotNow this is an odd turn of events; THR reported this morning that Horton Hears a Who director Jimmy Hayward has signed on to make his live action debut with the DC Comic adaptation Jonah Hex, which has been stagnant for a bit after the Crank directors departed the project.
The script was also penned by the Crank duo and features the disfigured lawman (still set to be played by Josh Brolin) getting mixed up in some kind of supernatural evil, and it's likely Hayward will be working from it.
Horton Hears a Who was Hayward’s directorial debut, after working on everything from the Canadian cartoon “ReBoot” to Finding Nemo. Interesting to see him take such a horror-centric project as his first dip into the live action pool; I hope he’s up for the task!

'Jonah Hex' movie gets a new director
added by newsBotThe Jonah Hex movie is getting a new director, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jimmy Hayward, who directed Horton Hears a Who, has been signed to direct Hex as his second feature, and his first in live action. Prior to directing Horton, Hayward started as an animator for Reboot and then went on to Pixar.
Josh Brolin is still attached to star in the film-- because after playing an ornery cuss from the south who goes in guns blazing in W., this was a natural.
Hat tip: ICV2.

Jonah Hex Movie To Be Directed By Jimmy Hayward
added by newsBot“Horton Hears A Who” director Jimmy Hayward has been announced to direct the big-screen adaptation of “Jonah Hex”, the DC title about the scarred bounty hunter cowboy, which Josh Brolin is attached to star in as the titular gray-clad character. The relatively small title has been rumored to hit the silver screen since 1970, though a lawsuit over the rights to the character has complicated such an adaptation from ever seeing the light until recently when talks of the project gaining momentum surfaced in 2008, as well as of Brolin’s involvement with the picture. Hayward began his career as an animator on the Canadian TV series “ReBoot” before [...]
