You have to give it to Hollywood for the incredible ability to take a perfectly good idea and, through ceaseless meetings, conference calls, studio notes and rewrites, turn it into the same crap you've doubtlessly seen a thousand times before, and if you wanted to watch it again, you'd put in the DVD.
This is what I thought when I read that Ethan Rieff and Cyrus Voris' script for "Nottingham," a "re-imaging" (God I hate that word) of the Robin Hood story, told through the eyes of the Sheriff of Nottingham, was been turned into "Robin Hood." According to Variety, "Robin Hood" is now director Ridley Scott's new take on "Gladiator," with Robin of Locksley unleashing hell, presumably, on the Sheriff who was the good guy three drafts back. Maybe getting kicked off Heroes was the best thing that could ever have happened for TV producer/writer Jesse Alexander, whose post-apocalyptic TV show Day One has just been greenlit for a pilot by NBC, and now he’s added four more to his cast. Leading the way is Carly Pope (pictured, left), recently seen (and killed off!) the current season of 24, plus three others, including David Lyons, the show’s male lead, Adam Campbell and Thekla Reuten. THR has more on their characters: Lyons will play the male lead, a Marine and an Iraq veteran who is a natural leader. ABC's "Limelight" pilot has secured a slew of familiar faces. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Noah Gray-Cabey, Oded Fehr, Kyle Riabko and Jessy Schram set set for the soap, which focuses on teachers and students at a New York performing arts academy. Fehr, whose credits include Showtime's "Sleeper Cell" and an assortment of "Resident Evil" and "Mummy" films, will play the school's "overbearing artistic director." Riabko and Schram ("Life," "Veronica Mars") will play aspiring actors auditioning for the academy. Gray-Cabey, best known as Micah from NBC's "Heroes," was also a regular on ABC's "My Wife and Kids" back in the day....
