Barker’s Book Of Blood going to Sci Fi
added by newsBotAt the recently wrapped Fangoria Weekend of Horrors convention in Los Angeles, writer/director John Harrison announced that his Clive Barker adaptation Book Of Blood will likely bypass theatrical distribution, and debut on the Sci Fi Channel this fall (by which point it will be known under its ridiculous new Syfy moniker).
“There can’t be a worse time, economically, to open an independent horror film in the U.S. than now,” the Tales From The Darkside: The Movie director told the crowd, “so we will instead do a major cable launch on Sci Fi around September. We hope to get the movie on a few big screens before then, but it’s tough.”
Harrison, who also wrote and directed the Dune miniseries and scripted its follow-up Children Of Dune for Sci Fi, hopes to pitch additional feature films to Barker’s Midnight Picture Show company. For an early minireview of Book Of Blood,

Sam Raimi comin’ to La Fango con!
added by newsBotIt’s his first horror convention in 16 years… Yes, Fango Hall of Famer Sam Raimi has joined the lineup of the next West Coast edition of Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors convention, to be held April 17-19 at the Los Angeles Convention Center (1201 South Figueroa)! The director of the Evil Dead and Spider-man trilogies, Raimi will appear at the show on Friday and screen exclusive clips from his horror comeback, Drag Me To Hell (see trailer below).
Other exciting guests/programs set for Fango’s Southern California blowout include:
• Clive Barker: creator of Hellraiser, Candyman, Nightbreed, Midnight Meat Train and Lord Of Illusions will preview his new movies Dread and Book Of Blood, plus the novel The Scarlet Gospels
