‘Wall-e’ Director Talks ‘John Carter of Mars’
added by newsBotWay back in the summer of last year, Screen Rant reported (as an update) that the project John Carter of Mars wasn’t likely to start getting made for a long time, since at that time they hadn’t even decided on what form it would take - animation, live-action or a mixture of both.
But things seem to now be steamrolling ahead as Wall-e director Andrew Stanton revealed in a recent interview with SciFi Wire.
[I'm] deep into it,” Stanton said in an exclusive interview at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association award ceremony in Century City, Calif., on Monday, where he accepted the award for best picture of 2008 for Wall-e. “I’m on my next draft of it. We’re in pre-production art-wise, and we’re starting to talk to actors. So it’s full bore.
And as to the question of what form the film will take, Stanton has thankfully answered it:

What's Up With Oscar's Best Song Category Anyway?
added by newsBotAt the Oscars on Sunday (8 pm/Et, ABC), only three tunes will compete for the Best Song statuette: "Down to Earth" by Peter Gabriel from Wall-e and two songs from Slumdog Millionaire, none of which you had ever heard before they were nominated. How the songs are chosen is notoriously complicated, and the results are always a little suspect. Seriously?). Here's our extremely subjective take on the match-ups through the years — who deserved to win, who pulled a fast one on the Academy and which annoying little ditties will be stuck in your head for hours to come. Take a gander at our lists of the most memorable Best Song winners and nominees — and a few that

First Official Photos from Thomas Jane's Dark Country
added by newsBotEx-Frank Castle, actor Thomas Jane, has been directing a 3D horror film called Dark Country for the last year or so. We actually haven't ever written about this, even though I remember following it closely. My guess is that Jane and company have been hard at work getting this ready for its 3-D presentation. However, thanks to our friends at Quiet Earth, we finally have some official photos from the film, mainly featuring Jane's character's classic car, but they are officially our very first look. Apparently there are a lot of interesting supernatural elements to this, so as basic as these photos look, expect to see more in theaters. Dark Country is written by Tab Murphy (The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tarzan) and directed by Thomas Jane. Starring Thomas Jane, Ron Perlman, and Lauren German, the story follows a couple en route from Las Vegas that are forced to
