Sir Alan had been involved in the refurbishment of the Hackney Empire and this week a group of celebrities and the remaining candidates helped raise some money in a celebrity auction. Sir Alan separated Paul and Saira asking them both to select members for the new teams. First Forte were led by James and included Saira, Sebastian and Raj. Impact were led by Ben and included Miriam, Paul and Tim. Each team visited five celebrities and tried to obtain something from each of them which would be auctioned. Ben wisely gave Miriam the task of chatting up Michael Winner who contributed a table for four at The Ivy. Impact were on fire and then managed to get Dermuid Gavin to part with his prized Suzuki bike. First Forte were struggling. Eamonn Holmes charmed the group sitting them on the GMTV studio couch but the most he would offer was a tour of the TV studios and breakfast in the canteen. Paul McKenna offered a valuable one-to-one hypnotism session but then Saira asked for a bundle of books and DVDs which confused the audience at the auction. Griff Rhys Jones was the auctioneer for the evening. Impact raised £18,000 during the evening and First Forte £10,000. James had lost for the first time in the series. He elected to take Raj and Sebastian with him for the final session in the boardroom. Sir Alan decided that Sebastian was too much a Cartier and Rolls-Royce man for Amstrad, not realising he would be shown in his chauffeur-driven Rolls each week in the series. Sebastian was fired.

'The Apprentice' final to air on Sunday
added by newsBotThe Apprentice final has been moved from its regular weekday slot to Sunday evening. The conclusion of series five will air on Sunday, June 7 at 9pm on BBC One. The new timeslot means that Sir Alan Sugar's show will not clash with ITV's coverage of an England World Cup qualifier with Andorra. "We appreciate that many viewers will want to watch both The Apprentice final and the England World Cup qualifier," said a BBC spokesperson.

'Apprentice' dented by UEFA match

The tenth episode of the BBC One reality series, which saw another candidate fired by Sir Alan, was seen by 6.46m (24.9%) at 9pm, a drop of 1.91m from last week's performance. The half-hour spinoff The Apprentice: You're Fired, which featured Sir Alan's right-hand woman, Margaret Mountford, was not as badly affected by the clash, interesting 3.38m (16.4%) on BBC Two at 10pm.
