  "I know ABC has a way that they have to sell this, and that.s great, but in the same vein that Joan of Arcadia was a drama that had a lot of humor to it - she was a very Lucille Ball type of character, within this strange realm - this show has a taste of that with a harder edge," Tamblyn said. "The humor in it is very unique. We.re going to coin actual terms for things that are really funny and unique about precincts and cops, and the things cops find, everything from prostitutes to people who dress up in hot dog costumes.

  Detective Casey Shraeger (Amber Tamblyn) has just been transferred to the NYPD’s Homicide unit from Vice and is instantly thrown into a setting of bullets and bodies.

  Now that Life on Mars has completed its mission, ABC has a new show leading out of Lost on Wednesday nights: The Unusuals, starring such familiar faces as Amber Tamblyn, Jeremy Renner, Harold Perrineau and Adam Goldberg as quirky homicide detectives working for the NYPD. If any fans of Joan or Arcadia or General Hospital's original Emily Q. are surprised to see Tamblyn brandishing a badge these days, so is she. "When I first heard about [The Unusuals], I was like, 'I don't want to go back to TV, to play a cop,'" Tamblyn told TVGuide.com during a visit to the show's set. "But the script was so different."
