John Barrowman Wants to be Captain America
added by newsBotDuring the BBC "Torchwood: Children of Earth" mini-series panel at Comic-Con last weekend, actor John Barrowman revealed that he would like the chance play Captain America in Marvel's upcoming "The First Avenger: Captain America" and "The Avengers" films. "You know what I want to play? Captain America," he said to the wildly receptive crowd, before adding that it "so won't happen." Later an audience member stepped to the microphone and told Barrowman: "I think you're the only one who could play Captain America." The UK actor is the star of "Torchwood" and has appeared on "Doctor Who." He's 42 years old and is six feet tall.

Mark Valley and John Barrowman on Captain America

They’re either going to go with a well-known name to blunt the “America” part when they’re selling it overseas, or they’re going to go the completely unknown route as they recently did with “Thor”. Two names do keep coming up for the role, though: Mark Valley and John Barrowman (of Torchwood fame, in case you don’t know). What’s the word on both men and the role? According to Barrowman, he still wants to do the role, but seems to concede that it’s never going to happen.
